I get hella stoned and watch Foodfight! at least once a year. It’s my “favorite” movie.
Everything about it, from the implied beastiality between Charlie Sheen and Hillary Duff, to the weird gay bat, to the shitweasel
is a masterclass in what not to do in a movie. It transcends badness and becomes something sublime. The entire plot is about how store brands/generics are Nazis, and one of the Nazis absolutely chews the scenery in a way that makes Brian Blessed look reserved.

Any number of MST3K movies - some of my favourites include Time Chasers, Pod People, Space Mutiny, Skydivers, Red Zone Cuba, Mitchell, Angels’ Revenge, Manos: The Hands of Fate, Horror of Party Beach, The Horrors of Spider Island, The Touch of Satan…
Non-MST3K - Miami Connection, Last Samurai, The Room, and a very recent discovery, an absolutely batshit crazy Spanish/Italian horror film, Tragic Ceremony.
By all accounts The Boondock Saints is a “bad” movie but we all watched it when we were 12 and thought it was fucking awesome and still do.
Oh no. I haven’t watched it since I was a teenager, please don’t ruin my memories.
it’s legitimately awful
Can’t be, it has Willem Dafoe chewing the scenery
There was a FIREFIGHT!!!
wish he would chew my scenery
And it’s so great because of it.
Bad? By whom? I fucking love that film.
Glad others think so. I never cared for it. All my friends loved it.
I heard this was a cult classic or something. I was disappointed. Dafoe is the only good part
Equilibrium (2002) wasn’t well received when it came out. I think it’s still “bad” on RT but imdb has it at 7.3 now. I don’t care if gun-kata is silly and dumb, it looks cool as fuck.
The end fight where he slides the clips for future use is chef kiss good
“Sense offender!”
This was one of my favorites as a kid. It was heavily influenced by The Matrix obviously
In the DVD commentary, the writer/director talked about how he’d had the basic idea, including gun kata, since high school. He could have been lying but I think he was honest and this was sort of a case of independent parallel ideas, since somebody turbo nerdy enough to come up with gun kata probably had influence from Hong Kong action movies that similarly influenced The Matrix.
The action style and flow is much different than The Matrix, and while both plots are about fighting the system, Equilibrium is much more straight forwardly grabbing elements from classic dystopias.
I feel like I saw that too… DVD extras were great
The tagline on the movie box even said as much: “Forget ‘The Matrix’! This movie will blow you away!”
I don’t think that proves much besides marketing people slapping anything on a cover long after the movie was made.
I loved that movie, thanks for reminding me about it.
The dog scene absolutely broke me. Probably the hardest I cried at a movie when I saw it for the first time.
Have you watched Grave of the Fireflies? I cried for hours afterwards. One of the best movies I’ve seen. Refuse to watch it again.
You should try Dolls by Kitano. It’s a bunch of failed love stories, music is awesome, I cry every time.
Never heard of it. Radarr is doing it’s thing. Thanks for the suggestion!
Don’t come back to me if you cry. Really an amazing movie though.
It’s the Matrix except the main character has the same name as my Dad. So, A+
I definitely gave up on it half way through and made up my own ending.
Velocipastor is an amazing bad movie that intended to be bad. There’s even a scene where a car explodes and it’s just some text that says “VFX of car exploding”
It’s about a pastor that can turn into a velociraptor… When there’s gore it’s like obviously fake, like a head rolls off and it’s clear as day that it’s a mannequin head. It’s so bad it’s amazing.
Oh yeah, and there are ninjas.

And the fact every flashback of the pastor was in a church of a different denomination lol
The Riddick Chronicles. Bad acting, bad CGI, Simple stupid inconsistent plot, one dimensional characters. perfect bad sci-fi.
I have a real soft spot for how absurdly bad/good those films are.
I liked them and have seen far worse. But to each their own.
Kung pow enter the fist. Steve oedekerk, not Bob, intentionally made a bad movie by over dubbing rewriting bad 70s martial arts films. It’s absurd and stupid. I love it.
They said bad movie. This is a masterpiece.
So many good quotes from that film.
THAT’S A LOTTA NUTS!
We trained him wrong, on purpose, as a joke!
Master Pain: From this day forward, you will all refer to me by the name Betty! Ah ha, ha-ha-ha-haaaa!
Eeeeeeeeeeevil Betty…
That Speed Racer movie that the Wachowskis made. I’m not gonna pretend it’s underrated, and I’m not gonna try to convince you to like it. They made it for me and me alone.
It’s fantastic. They didn’t bother to make it “relatable” or “more realistic”, just “we’re literally doing, shot for shot, the anime as a movie, and fuck you if you don’t like it”. It’s shameless, joyful fun the entire way, and honestly more movies should embrace the camp and just run with it.
They just released a remastered Blu-ray of it! I bought the disc, but I didn’t actually have a Blu-ray player, so idk if they did a good job with the remaster yet.
A remaster??? I hope they made it more colorful.
Thanks for mentioning this! I just ordered it.
I watched that one in theatres! I also watched Baby Geniuses 2, Meet the Spartans, and the Ridiculous 6 in theatres because I guess I attract garbage.
That movie is so good!!!
People didn’t like that? It’s my favorite movie to watch on acid or shrooms.
Oh god I could not handle that
Another one: Orgazmo https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orgazmo
By the guys of South Park.
Super Mario Bros. 1993. It is by far the movie that puts the biggest “fun” smile on my face, especially when watching it stoned. It’s so goofy in the best way and comes across as funny in a way that makes me have fun with it every time.
I mentioned Rifftrax in another comment, but the Rifftrax version of this and Street Fighter are two of my favorite things ever.
the amount of slime in that movie makes it impossible for me to watch stoned. Like, if I got that slimey, while stoned, I would be freaking the fuck out. Great movie though. I still love John Luigi-zamo
Sucker Punch
The internet loves to shit on it. I’ve always enjoyed it. It’s a visual/audio treat.
the extended cut is a genuinely compelling narrative on top of the impressive variety of aesthetics & action sequences. folks are welcome to find it cringey and overdone but that’s a matter of taste. it’s a little too porny for me as a grown ass man but i thought it was great fun as a teen, go figure.
the pg-13 theatrical cut was hot dog water that left the emotional climax of the film on the cutting room floor.
See I never got that either. There is some kind of story about escapism and dealing with trauma in there, but it’s definitely second fiddle to the fact that you get to see badass ladies with samurai swords running a bunny mech through ww1 trenches and fighting giant samurai with a gatling gun. Sure it’s dumb, but so is Fast and Furious
It’s a genius retelling of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. It’s also schlocky, pointless, fanservice-y action. It’s dumb and I kind of love it.
Probably Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, but honorable mention to Chopping Mall and Primo Baby for being so terrible they’re amusing.
Six String Samurai.
“Nice tuxedo… nice tuxedo TO DIE IN!”
Pretty decent choice. High on my list too.
Amazing soundtrack. Saw the Red Elvises live in a small bar years ago. Great show.
The Mummy (1999) I believe was panned by critics at release, but I think it’s an absolutely fantastic and humorous adventure film.
It’s a solid 10. Brendan Fraser’s finest work.
