If Sugar Rush looked as good as it does in Wreck-It Ralph, I think it’d be a fantastic kart racer.
Also Roy from Rick and Morty. Holy shit, a game that could compress time would be fucking insane, even as mundane as it is.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•What's your favorite thanksgiving pie?English
3·13 天前Sweet potato. It’s what pumpkin wants to be.

TenForward: Where Every Vulcan Knows Your Name@lemmy.world•I don't remember voting for youEnglish
12·14 天前Yeah, I think a quasi-religious cult offshoot of the borg could be neat to explore.

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•Are they still underpants if you aren't wearing pants?English
19·14 天前The brits neatly sidestep this quandry by calling them pants and trousers respectively, and I think they’ve honestly got the superior system there. I mean one of our American gods (Superman) wears them on the outside, how can we continue in good conscience to call them “under”-pants?

Showerthoughts@lemmy.world•With bathing, water recirculation is more easily accepted.English
2·14 天前That doesn’t sound right, but I don’t know enough about dishwashers to dispute it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the difference between an angel and a ghost?English
9·15 天前Ghosts haven’t been sucked off yet.
On the contrary, he spent the last few years building up an immunity to lava.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do these look like fake cigarettes or used tampons?English
7·19 天前I mean if you’re worried about it you can buy a ceramic one-hitter that looks close enough to a cigarette at 20 feet from any head shop for like $5.
The app I use, Podcast Addict, has given me some pretty decent recommendations from the ones I’ve subscribed to. I’ve also had some decent luck search for the keyword “anthology”.
I can give you a few more recommendations that are less tipped toward weird, as jumping off points:
- LeVar Burton Reads (Exactly what is says on the tin. Reading Rainbow for adults. Be prepared to hear Geordi say “fuck” once in a while.)
- Myths and Legends (Snarky narrator retelling classic mythology in an accessible modern tone)
- Fictional (Same guy as above, but for classic lit like Shakespeare, Sherlock Holmes, Dracula and Frankenstein)
- Short History Of… (Various bits of interesting history told in narrative form)
I used to listen to Nightvale quite a bit actually. Stopped some time shortly after the mayoral election storyline because IRL stuff meant I just wasn’t listening to as many podcasts at the time. I did like it, but it’s also one that I recall as best listened to in order, so it’s always been on the back burner to pick back up. Maybe I’ll give it another go during some long game sessions this winter.
I tend to go for story-telling podcasts, and within those I gravitate towards Twilight Zone-style weird anthologies. I don’t know how under-appreciated they are, but I rarely see the genre represented in discussions much.
Right now I’m finding a lot of great stuff in:
- The Other Stories (all kinds of stuff, they have a different theme every month or so)
- The Wrong Station (similar, but less likely to stick to a theme for a while)
- Gray Matter (lots of modern adaptations of older horror/sci-fi, like Lovecraft)
- The Antiquarium of Sinister Happenings (higher ratio of dumb stuff, but still some gems)
- The Program (Black Mirror-esque)
- The Truth (various radio plays. Many aren’t sci-fi, but still weird in some way. Kind of reminds me of the bits of Inside No. 9 I’ve seen.)–

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How do you pronounce in words the following two references to money: "6½d" and "6s. 6d." from a 1904 text?English

Log in and look for the Settings gear in the lower right.
Click on it, then scroll down to Accessibility and click on Configure.
This window is pretty crowded, so use the search bar in the top right to look for Input Settings.
Click on that and look for text-to-speech, then open the drop-down, select your microphone,

Eat penguin shit, scumfuck.
Then go ask your fucking slopbot to “brainstorm” with you, chud.

I feel like for a lot of us, the 24 hour day does not align with our natural rhythm. Since working from home for a few years, I found that a 26-hour day fits better for me. I’d fit in great on DS9.
