I like to imagine you just have uncut and cooked cherry tomatoes between two pieces of toast

If you put butter on the bread and then directly the tomatoes on it they stick to it and will not Slip out. Don’t put them between ham and cheese!

This is such a weird idea to me. Tomatoes are everywhere where I live and they also grow very well here.

Now what good food is always in your grocery store that I have a hard time buying in the US?

Why don’t you guys use sauces made using tomatoes? I’ve always hated tomatoes in my sandwich. Forget them falling out… Biting into them is disgusting as well!

Because then I’d lose the wonderful texture of a good tomato, sauces are just not the same.

Are you kidding me? The texture is the worst part. The taste of raw tomatoes is the second worst. They only start to get good after you cook the living hell out of them.

Have you only had grocery store tomatoes? If so, then I forgive you. But a good garden tomato is a taste of heaven.

Mom always had a sizeable garden in the backyard growing up. I haven’t had time for a garden the past couple years, but I usually have Romas and a few other varieties in mine. I’ve always hated fresh tomatoes.

I find it interesting that you call them acidic. I’ve never had a tomato which tasted acidic to me, except maybe if they aren’t ripe yet.

In fact, it’s quite common to add vinegar to tomatoes (ketchup, tomato salad, various dishes with balsamic vinegar). So, yeah, maybe your sense of taste picks up on some molecule that others can’t taste…

I’ve never really like… eaten acid tbh. I had the druggo kind you put into small paper squares, I wouldn’t recommend that either tbh!

Ah, I thought, you were being fanciful with your wording, because acid simply tastes sour. Lemons, apples, vinegar, they all taste sour, because they contain acid.

I just looked it up, by the way, and tomatoes apparently do contain acid, too. I guess, it’s just not usually the prevalent taste to me…
