I think you underestimate how well developed the VA industry is in Japan

Oh, no. That’s the point! It’s so, so good. If English dubbers just copied it enough, it would still be decent enough. They don’t have to explore, practice, or come up with excellent VA, just copy, even amateurishly, and it’ll be good.

I think the issue is many English dubbers try really hard to speak to match the mouth movements and it ends up sounding so unusual. But also, stuff like choosing some young high pitched voice when the original actor was a deep sombersome voice that matches the character’s appearance and demeanor.

Yeah, it’s tricky that, especially with international stuff. When something kicks off internationally and suddenly a bajillion charity groups appear, it’s troublesome.

And it’s my rule of thumb to just disregard anything from a religion, I won’t even bother checking into them. Whenever there’s been a charity called out for being evil, it’s ironically Christian-based.

Where I recently moved to, everything is a 10-20 min drive away, but buses can be over an hour because how poorly they’re done. Apparently they used to be quite bad, but recent changes made them awful and no one understands how the new routes and timetables managed to be approved and implemented.

Usually electronica or classical. Both just fill in with tasty noises that blend into the background. Most music composed with some sort of a music theory background tends to do this well without relying on lyrics, repetition or distractions fighting for your attention.

Yeah. Japan’s usually going to be number 1 in Asia, but we all go for whoever of those three teams is still in and usually two of them are in the WC. China’s just insignificant. I think even NZ is higher than them and they’re a low-population nation obsessed with rugby.
