Self Help Idea:

Every morning line up your plushies and say “alright gang here’s the plan” and list off everything you need to get done today while heist music plays in the background

Actually potentially helpful advice. This is analogous to rubber duck debugging. Just putting your intention into words reinforces it.

You know how everyone swears that AI is making them so much more productive? If there’s an ounce of truth to it, I bet that it’s because writing a prompt forces them to articulate what they’re stuck on. I discovered years ago that when I’m stuck on a technical problem, I can usually break through by brain dumping onto a page or two — it doesn’t matter if I ever read it again, it’s just something about the process of writing that helps me make new connections and prune the unhelpful ideas.

Writing a prompt and having it reworded at you unironically can help reorganise thoughts. You can do that with a human person too. But there’s a lot of people in love with LLM Chatbots precisely BECAUSE it can reorder their thoughts for them and make them make more sense.

I’ve unironically untangled my thought process sometimes in the midst of trying to write a useful prompt (something more explicit than “it no worky”). The text box is more helpful than the model like 50% of the time.

I’ve heard it called “being someone’s watson”. Just the act of speaking things outloud and hearing them can sometimes help.

And like a real gang, everything boils down to you doing all the work while they just sit and listen >:(

Goddammit plushie #31, why can’t YOU do the dishes for once??

Unironically I am going to do this because my (suspected) AuDHD brain will not have organised thoughts unless I’m either already locked-in or talking aloud to myself.

It may not help if some of them look like they’re about to giggle, and thus may not be taking the plan serious.
