Look, it makes sense. If you’re trying to convince a child on the internet to send you pictures or have sex with you, you want to know they’re really a kid and not some FBI agent pretending. Having operating systems that report users ages and having a way for anyone to see that reported age for everyone online is a good practice.
The bill only covers operating systems which integrate with cloud services. The bill is designed to target what it calls “addictive” feeds and services. Linux distros don’t appear to be in scope. Yet again cm0002 is demonstrating an inability to read the actual sources.
I had been following 5511 for awhile but lost sight of it. was this added just before it was vetted? From my own analysis (at the time) it was targeting all OSs generically.

So who is going to come out and update the operating system in every smart tv, every web-connected fridge, Internet routers in every school and home, the obsolete consoles (Nintendo 64, PS2) that were passed down from the neighbour’s kids?

That’s the thing, though. This is the best governor this state has had in modern history. Pritzker has been on the money when it comes to almost everything. No idea how he missed the mark so badly here.
I just left Illinois but what he’s done to keep abortion rights safe was pretty amazing. Not a fan of his stance on this or guns though. Everything else has been miles better than any recent governor though.
Unfortunately both parties share the same donors who benefit from this, and getting momentum on a third party under a bipartisan system takes a lot of time and effort
