Was it because Will Smith barely ever chooses to act? I know he can but he rarely plays anyone except Will Smith. Tudyk’s range is delightful. I loved him as Mr. Priest, for example.

I was so psyched to see that movie, only for it to be more spectacle and lacking substance. Fucking disappointed.

Obviously not even Asimov’s story (since it’s a collection of stories with an overarching plot). I’ll watch it on occasion, but mostly for Alan’s work.

      Maddox Mission said it best,

15 minutes into the movie I wanted to watch a movie on my JVC player, wearing converse while drinking some ovalteen as I got into my Audi.

the movie was one product placement after another.

That movie stands out in my mind as the most egregious product placement I’ve ever seen. The plot grinds to a halt for the protagonist to talk about a specific product for absolutely no reason.

The parody in Wayne’s World was less awful!

I loved the book and the movie broadly addressed the same theme as the final story, ie “what if robots controlled humanity”. Maybe you can interpret the movie as an interlude between when the machines actually take over and figure out a more subtle way to control the planet, as they do in the book.

Except his mindless, tone-deaf crotchfruit. That dumbass gets spooned into things like Willy’s carrying a dustpan everywhere.

Alan Tudyk would probably have been a fine detective Spooner.

Will Smith is a fine detective Spooner.

It’s the casting’s director choice, it’s normal for actors who were not picked to be sore.
