  • ahhhhh … I really don’t care any more … I’m nice and respectful and open to everyone … I accept everyone no matter race, gender, identity, nationality, background, religion (or non religion) and I do my best to respect everyone for who they are … beyond that, if people give me a hard time to be around them just to give me a hard time or show authority or try to be above me or control me - I really don’t want to be around you.

  • Exactly … it’s also a double standard because reddit is basically a capitalist model of the same digital system but no one ever complains or criticizes it.

The socialist digital creators built something and shared it freely with everyone and also don’t exert control over anyone.

The capitalist digital creatures built something and locked it up, monetized it and are using the user’s efforts as the basis for the business only the owners make money on and have complete control over everything.

It’s amazing because it’s a fantastic metaphor for the two platforms.

  • On a frozen ocean or on the shore of a frozen ocean in the middle of February during the coldest night of the year with a cloudless moonless sky.

I got to see this once when I went to see family up on James Bay. I went out with them for a ride on a winter road and at one point we just parked in the dark with a view of the horizon. It was so cold the temperatured dipped to past minus 40! We were in a half ton truck and we parked, stopped, turned off the lights and stood outside for a while. I couldn’t believe the amount of stars we saw overhead. Stars twinkled down everywhere down to the horizon in all directions. The Milky Way was an obvious band across the sky (not as dramatic as time lapse image but still obvious to view).

At one point I realized I was so mesmerized by the image that I became almost afraid and self conscious of it all. I literally realized I was standing on the edge of the planet and it made me realize that space was not that far away and if gravity failed for whatever reason, I would just float out into it all. The coldness, the light and stars and the stillness just made it all feel like I was actually in space.

I’ll never forget that place. It was amazing.

  • This will be the template of what is to come for all of us all over the world.

Climate caused catastrophes and instead of working together, having patience with government, trying to figure out solutions, working cooperatively … we’ll all protest, fight, get angry with one another and make the situation worse for one another.

We won’t be working together to deal with the problem or admitting to one another that we are causing the climate catastrophes or doing anything significant to lessen the effects or even change our behaviour … we’ll just protest our governments for not having magical instant solutions to impossible problems.

  • Why is it normalized that one country can block/embargo/complicate/whatever-you-want-to-call-it another country to the point of severely affecting the lives of millions of people … for what? because one country disagrees with the politics of another country?

If countries were able to do that, there would be no trade anywhere in the world.

Yet it’s been completely normalized for the past six decades between the US and Cuba.

  • It’s not so much that it’s AI generated … it’s also AI influenced.

I know so many professional office workers who once wrote some of the most boring sometimes stupid emails because they didn’t know how to write or get their message across or constantly miscommunicated things because they worded things wrong … now all of a sudden they’ve become professional writers and all their emails look like auto generated messages.

I’m guessing that many writers also take the AI shortcut. They get a bunch of content generated from an AI than just rewrite it for themselves. Some content i see is lazily edited and some is heavily. But I get the feeling that just about everyone is using it because it’s an easy way to get a bunch of work done without having to think too much.
