  • I also watched an analysis the other day from someone taking the position that Trump really views this in terms of scoring domestic political points — like, he’s the peacemaker president, and Biden is the incompetent war president, which is a theme that he’s been campaigning on. If one agrees with that, he also wants the war ended quickly, which places even more impractical constraints on Rubio and similar.

It is the same logic he used his first term when he made the deal with the Taliban to pull US troops out of Afghanistan. It was never going to work but he thought it looked good. The fact he lost and Biden got stuck with the aftermath was a bonus.

  • Trump signed the deal and set the deadlines for troop withdrawal. Biden was president for the completion of the pullout. By then it was already apparent the Taliban would takeover once the US military was gone.

In my opinion Biden was damned if he did and damned if he didn’t. Republicans would say he sabatoged Trumps peace deal if he sent the troops back and cried anyways when the obvious happened as troops were withdrawn.

Trump just wanted to use ending the war as a campaign talking point. He didn’t care if it worked or not. The fact it didnt and Biden got the shit sandwich was an unintended bonus.

As far as Trumps history with deal making the LA Times goes over some and has link to the SEC document that lists Trumps failed businesses.

  • I left my last job because they mandated two days in office every month. They said it was to “promote team unity”. I kindly pointed out that: 1.) They renewed office space leases during COVID lockdowns and clearly didn’t want to pay for space that wasn’t being used. 2.) Every other person on my team was on the opposite coast as me. 3.) And finally I pointed out the recent offshoring of services, back office and customer facing, clearly showed my position would get the axe sooner than later, I was back office.

    They really didn’t like that.
