Honestly, that’s one of the cool parts of old internet (forums, chatrooms, etc.) is getting to know people, you get to know the community 😊
Just an UwU boi living in an OwO world

ngl, I don’t comment nearly as often anymore out of concern for anything I say to be misconstrued, argued, or wanting verification like this meme. Ya’ll, I’ve got a job and a life, I can’t/don’t want to sit here and fight people. The worst gets assumed of anything and it gets difficult to have productive, much less positive discourse online.
My perspective is simple, a win is a win. If someone makes the leap to Linux, that’s a huge win, regardless of distro.
Lord of the Flies up in there, hot damn!
ngl, I love hearing the rest of the world, it gives perspective into what we’re doing well, what we’re doing poorly, and what’s downright fucked up
I work for one of the largest healthcare providers in the US. I pay $450/mo for health insurance. This is not including vision, dental, or money I set aside for FSA (a pre-tax savings account restricted for use for paying for healthcare) and for and HRA (similar to FSA, but intended for when you’re older, and our company partially matches our contributions). The FSA has been refusing to pay for legitimate doctor visits that insurance has sanctioned. I pay out of pocket for a lot of procedures that the insurance ducks, such as laser eye surgery, vasectomy or even for birth control pills prior to the vasectomy.
The laser eye surgery was ~$5,000 out of pocket, the vasectomy was ~$2,000.
I had a visit to the ER - I was driven by my partner to avoid ambulance costs, and with insurance, had to pay $450 only for the doctors to stay they couldn’t figure out what was wrong and I end back up there later that week for another $450.
I was in a car crash a few years ago and my medical costs (again, with insurance) came out to ~$250,000.
This is while making $85,000/yr working as a Senior IT Engineer, and paying $2,700/mo for rent.
Generally speaking, with insurance, we’re probably paying about twice as much for any given situation, but insurance itself is also expensive and likes to dodge paying for as much as possible.
Multiple 15-hour days, working from 5 AM to 8 PM. I work in healthcare, so it was essential to get most of these servers back online as soon as possible
Thank you for the suggestion! We tried one of those as well as some mouse-looking containers that she’d have to bat around to get some food out of, and those helped a bit, but became a monster when she didn’t feel like “hunting” xD
My sweet fluffmuffin is adorable in all ways, incredibly sweet, well behaved, BUT BARFS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. We’ve seen multiple vets, tried all of the foods, adjusted her eating situation to sit higher so she doesn’t crane her neck and is only allowed so much food at a time, but she doesn’t seem to realize she can take breaths between bites and we’ve had to barf-proof our home
Half an hour of troubleshooting a user who said they couldn’t reach their file share on their network. They didn’t have access to the internet… They didn’t have access to anything else on the network… Switch under their desk indicated not connecting to the rest of the network. Asked if they would go to the server closet, they said they couldn’t, because an overzealous wrecking ball went through that closet this morning. Not even joking…it was to take down the neighboring building which was being knocked down for being a code violation for being too close to my client’s building.
Thank goodness they don’t have any more important or pressing issues going on at the moment
To piggy-back off of this, it’s not entirely uncommon to create another directory at root in enterprise environments, using /data or /application That said, I only do that for enterprise, for my personal computer, my distro defaulted to auto-mounting to a directory for each drive inside of /mnt, and I rather like that and intend to stick with it.
Damn…Vimms Lair was my favorite, friggin Nintendo doing what it does best…
I’m happy about any new features that draw more users to a federated alternative :)
Also a sysasmin, really don’t wanna learn it…or have to type it on the daily
That’s a great callout, and something we should be considering more often
I love this change, actually, I’m not a boring-text purist. Proper categorizing of data allows me to spot things at a glance much easier, and I’m all in favor of anything that can improve efficiency and understanding, especially for new folks, so we can improve product adoption.
While I don’t have the answer as to why, it usually works if you just add a shift, ie. SHIFT+CTRL+V Many terminals also allow you to change the shortcut to copy and paste, so you can adjust for comfort’s sake.
Thank you! I love the flexibility of Plasma and being able to make a uniquely me environment
Why wait? Dual boot, get cozy, still have the ability to go back to Windows if needed, find alternative apps, and soon enough, you won’t need the Windows partition :) Worked for my partner, my brother, and myself
