I know they are the same people but it’s still two different things. A persons carbon footprint is different to the business even if that person is the ceo
5 mins, new Zealand. The voting places are super empty because they open for multiple days.
There are so many better climate change comparisons than this yet I keep hearing this stupid one repeated over and over. Ultimately it doesn’t matter than billionaires personally emite more carbon than “the average person” because even if they dropped that stat to match the average there would be absolutely no difference.
Target the biggest carbon emitters which is businesses. Every time carbon emissions is brought up it should be in the context of making businesses emit less carbon. Make them pay for emitting carbon, give tax credits for green technology that stuff will be infinetly more effective that targeting specific people.
I don’t care that Taylor swift took a jet to her concert its not her issue to fix. Its the responsibility of the government to solve this through strong environmental policy. Government policy changing incentives will flow down to the individual and adjust their behaviour instead of a mob trying to shame individuals into changing their behaviour.
As long as it’s opt in I’d happily give user data to improve ui\ux. But it doesn’t seem like it is so good!
What a glowing review. When I see these articles I always expect that they will experience one issue and give up or treat their posts exactly like the old platform and be disappointed when it’s doesn’t work.
Lemmy does pretty much everything I want from this medium of communication. Wishlist features would be:
My account got activated but I still can’t see any videos or anything. Its just an empty settings page.
Ah fuck I thought that photo was real.
The thing is that “normies”(I hate the term) weren’t on reddit when it was the size of lemmy. The only experience they have is joining it after it had 10 years of development reached critical mass of users.
So we are stuck being compared to an impossible standard. When I compare Lemmy to old reddit lemmy hands down blows it out of the water. Old reddit had cp and racism on the front page every single day for years. It was hard to use and hostile to new users.
I’ve seen lemmy pop up in search engine posts already which was cool to see. Ive also seen lots of high quality intelligent posts granted they are only tech related but we will grow.
The military does have a responsibility to protect its civilians. Because hamas choose to start a war and continue to conduct war with blatant use of the civilian population as cover we shouldn’t be surprised or shocked when civilians are caught up in the crossfire.
The death toll that’s given by hamas doesn’t include militants which is why it must always be mentioned. 40,000 deaths sounds worse than 20,000 military casualties and 20,000 civilian casualties. Especially when we know that the hamas military strategy is to maximize civilian casualties.
I would like it to grow but I really really don’t want it to be like reddit. I like the small vibe so maybe growing to like 100k or 200k but not 10m that would fuck shit up.
This is really cool. Can you add more detail on how to set this up to the blogpost?
Finally a place to post my tom shelby sigma edits.
Understandable concerns and reasonable response assuming it’s true. I hope it remains open source because I spent so much time moving over and getting my family on board and using it. I’d hate to have to move again.
The Fediverse has the advantage of being able to control its size. If 10 million people join lemmy tomorrow and most of them go to lemmy.World and then lemmy.World users start causing trouble then that instance gets defederated.
Other than that we only have human moderation which can be overwhelmed.
Misskey should be upper half. Mastodon should be lowest IQ only above threads and non fedi.
Interesting. I can’t wait for more information to come out. The outlets reports don’t seem very useful so we’ll have to wait and see if the drones were able to saturate Israels air defense.
Hopefully the Fediverse will be able to have a better take on how to do shortform video than other platforms.
The war is pretty much over most idf troops have been moved to Lebanon. Only a few brigades remain in Gaza. There is still fighting, Hamas just posted a video of their operations and some attacks.
With trump in power they are going to wish they accepted the early ceasefire deal.
