Well we had to pick an age where people are officially adults and allowed to make their own decisions, we picked 18 and that seems fair to me. A huge age gap is a bit weird but it’s none of my business legally or morally.

I live in a state where the presidential race is locked in, and has been for my entire life. I know which party is going to take all of our electoral votes, every single time, no matter what I do. If I vote for a third party and help them get 20% of the popular vote (however unlikely that is) they’ll be guaranteed a spot in the debates and on the ballots of all 50 states in 4 years. Its the only way for my vote to potentially matter at all.

It was 9/11 butterfly effect. The US’s wars caused a refugee crisis, xenophobes across North America and Europe got their panties in a bunch about all the new brown people, turned to nationalism. New (and popular) authoritarian anti terrorism laws probably didn’t help either.

I spent a week there. We stayed with my girlfriends grandfather, in a gated community in Bayonne. He had to keep a huge garbage can full of water in the shower because the power was constantly going out, also it was unbelievably hot despite being late October, there were ants all.over everything and the gas/electric were obscenely expensive.
