I’m not technical enough to think it through carefully but I’ve always thought there was an opportunity for an organization like USPS to develop email 2.0 - something that gives people some kind of verifiable and secure email address so that users can easily find each other whilst filtering out spam (or to have spam taken into consideration in the design at the outset). You would design it based on strict standards that would be difficult to get around so that big tech could not easily co-opt it, and adopt for some kind of critical function (taxes, voting maybe?) so that it would encourage adoption en masse. Make it distributed so that users can selfhost it easily, safely, and securely.
Jealous that you’ve seen them in the wild!

Meh. I’m team BlendTec. They’d probably make a commercial for this. “Next on Will It Blend! Fashion models!”
There’s no such thing as almond milk. You know how I know ? Because there’s no almond tiddies.
With apologies to Lewis Black.

Analog clocks are not really essential technology.
I forget who said it, but an American general once said “Amateurs discuss tactics; professionals discuss logistics.”

Hello, in your alt text I think you mean to say “respectively” and not “respectfully”.
A screwdriver doesn’t become a bad screwdirver just because someone is using it to drive nails. There is a lot to hate about Microsoft, but its basic Office tools are really quite good, when used in the manner in which they were designed. There really are no meaningful competitors for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Outlook as an email client is not great, but its strength is calendaring.
Word is not horrible as a word processor. The issue is that people try to use it to do typesetting, reference management, and all kinds of non word processor shit. And Microsoft encourages this. If you understand what the tool does it’s really a decent tool.
Five Guys is ok but is also 25-30% more expensive than most of the other places listed here, at least where I live.
No mixed feelings at all. I am unequivocally sad that we lost Richard Simmons today 😢😢😢
The problem is that the cops are on their side.
RIP 😭
