I use the dendritic approach for my NixOS configuration. put everything in individual modules. then I go back and further cut up those modules to be even more specific. It’s gotten so bad I even have modules for almost every individual WM/DE to just turn them on and off within the flake. They’re just so fun to build. it’s addictive. I need help.

yeah I was going to say people in India get it all the time. Hell I remember the Seinfeld episode where a friend of Elaine and Jerry decided to have their wedding in India and the parents of the groom, who were both Indian, tried to talk them out of going saying stuff like “you know they still have the black plague in India?”

it’s pretty much already there. you can essentially run windows via linux right now. on one of my machines I have a Windows 11 install with Arch Linux in an WSL2. I can manage and run/install/whatever on the windows machine via an Arch Linux prompt. and with stuff like winget and scoop that also works via Arch it’s easy.

when you talk to people focus on their left eye. just 100% focus on their left eye and constantly catch it when it moves. apparently this is supposed to establish a sense of empathy and connection with that person. thing is it can be quite unnerving for some people.

I wouldn’t hold my breath. I think the franchise has been saturated now. The ONLY way I could see it happening is if they retconned the sequels or if they retconned all the stuff prior to the Disney purchase and made that all canon again. i’m talking books, comics, games, etc. I know Filoni has tried doing that one piece at a time but I really wish they’d just full out say “yeah this stuff is all canon again”

that being said I feel like it’s too late for that stuff as the majority of those stories all revolved around Luke, Leia, Han, and their kids. I would have loved to see a Shadows of the Empire film. I would have loved to see a trilogy about Jacen, Jaina, and Ben and how they deal with all that. I REALLY wanted to see a Rogue Squad/Wraith Squad film like the Bacta War or something with Wedge, Wes, Hobbie, Tycho and Corran but instead we’re getting something else completely.

I assumed the same as you when I tried out the BSDs. I went with FreeBSD first because I assumed that was the better supported one. Wifi was absolutely horrible on it. connection would constantly drop, or was slow, etc. on OpenBSD i haven’t had those issues. Also had a lot of issues setting up a VM on FreeBSD and getting certain USB devices to work correctly. neither of those issues on OpenBSD.

I daily drive OpenBSD. I found it easier to set up than NetBSD which apparently is ass backwards as open is supposed to be harder. for the life of me I just couldn’t wrap my head around getting the amdgpu drivers working on NetBSD.

I also found OpenBSD slightly better supported for various hardware than FreeBSD. Wifi works better on it, these old ass logitech headphones I have work flawlessly on OpenBSD when on FreeBSD they just didn’t work at all and gave off horrible feedback or I couldn’t turn the mic off. Also found setting up a Debian VM much easier on OpenBSD than FreeBSD (still a chore though)

Also OpenBSD for whatever reason probably has the most solid and decently sized gaming community than the other ones.

It’s a great OS that just stays out of your way. really fun to tinker with. Just don’t expect to do EVERYTHING on it. for surfing, certain dev work, etc it’s great.

honestly just installing Gentoo is a great way to learn various aspects of linux. It’s a process, a lengthy one, but if you manage to install it successfully you can pretty much install any distro or BSD with absolute ease and not even think about it.
