yeah last year I had a private forgejo on a bare metal server but I ditched that cause I was paying for something I wasn’t really using much. I might just bite the bullet and go back to that and also slap a VPN on it since with the recent mullvad bullshit I really don’t want to continue giving them money.
I was in the middle of patching a DWL build and I royally messed up one of the patches and it completely broke everything. had to pull down a fresh version of the patch and also pull in my nixos config…codeberg was down.
It was at that point I realized “yeeeeeah keeping my nixos system on codeberg and only on codeberg probably isn’t a good idea anymore.”
I do a once a week backup via borg but I’m starting to think I need an alternative for daily stuff.

yeah it’s pretty much this honestly. The plot is fairly basic, it doesn’t open anything up for anything else like people are used to with superhero movies.
But yes it’s True Grit with a sprinkling of John Wick.

see the problem is that in general A24 fans aren’t your typical moving going fans. They’re more in the “know” then the average movie goer so regardless of simply wanting to “sit at the table” this is going to backfire on them.
If they were like Paramount or Universal Studios no one would give a rats ass. but being who they are and who they generally market to and who goes and watches their films…this will bite them in the ass.

yes but if you initially charge for it then you can make MORE money.
Honestly they could go the MMO route of old and charge you for the game, then charge you a monthly sub, then charge you via an ingame shop and people would gladly pay it. I mean hell just look at WoW, that thing is still raking in money 20+ years after initial release and it does all of the above.

well to give the guy his credit he finally found a working grift. Manipulate the market with the war. took him long enough. his previous ones weren’t working or had the intended outcomes. but this one? easy peasy. just has to keep it up every week for the next god knows how many years.

it just constantly boggles my mind how mentally ill people (Leo clearly has some form of mental illness) and truly idiotic people (again, applies to Leo) always seem to have enough money to just blow away like this. Meanwhile intelligent and sane individuals are barely scraping by.
I mean i’m comfortable in life, more than comfortable, but i don’t have “move to another country simply because I hate a particular thing in society” money.

I hate gays more than not being homeless.
Imagine hating a group of people SO much you’d rather be homeless in Russia of all god damn places.

They’ve never had a “high point” to begin with. The entire state was built on revenge. They hid behind the whole “anti-semite” bullshit the entire time to justify their actions until today when that term has lost all meaning. They utilized the Jewish faith as a crtuch and excuse to get away with their bullshit.
The best thing that ever happened to Israel was the Holocaust. We’re still reeling from the fall out of Hitlers bullshit to this day for the opposite reasons.

it’s zsh without having to add in all the plugins. on my NixOS systems zsh+plugins caused it to run slow. Fish just doesn’t have that issue as everything is baked into it. setting up functions is also a breeze and the built in themes are great. just one install and no need to configure much if anything.

you can benchmark like CachyOS, PikaOS, and like Fedora or something and the results are pretty much going to be the same. you’ll see an ever so slight FPS increase on PikaOS but it’s so marginal you’d be hard pressed to notice. If a 4fps increase is important to you then sure, have at it. but for most it doesn’t really matter.
That being said PorteuX does sort of interest me as it’s based on Slackware and is something I want to try out.

Window Maker is still great, love the NeXTStep setup.
Window Maker on NixOS however is an absolute pain in the ass.

yeah that’s the one level in all the CoD series that stands out for me and can still see it in my head. you’re given only ammo and you have to follow the guy carrying the rifle. remember playing it in my early 20s and was like “da fuck is this? where the hell is MY gun?”

wonder what Tommy thinks about this, nice they brought back Greg Sestero, honestly would have thought Tim and Eric would have been involved.

yeah bud we Canadians beat you to the punch on that one some 20 years ago.

yeah he’s in his 70s and has been using computers for longer than I’ve been alive (i’m in my 40s). the minimalist nature of it appeals to him. likes really getting under the hood of linux so to speak. says he doesn’t like the “bells and whistles” of other distros.
He figured out suckless stuff before I did and convinced me to switch to DWM and ST which I have and he was right, I much prefer those over other WMs and Terminals. He once tried Gentoo but didn’t have the patience for it.

I don’t use Arch anymore but I can imagine that the install process turned a lot of people off it or pivoted them to stuff like Manjaro, CachyOS, Endeavour etc. It isn’t until recently that ArchInstall has become VERY good and simple.
Primary factor even with Archinstall is if you’re trying to install Arch via Wifi. you have to do iwd and all that and for someone who isn’t quite as comfortable on the command line yet that can be daunting. Even now for myself if I were installing Arch I still have to pull up the Arch Wiki during install cause I can never remember the iwd commands for wifi. I’ve also borked the install a couple times because I either forgot to include the networkmanager or selected the wrong video drivers.
it really is. I really liked Mullvad, really liked it. it was easy to setup, use, all I am to them is an account number. but when I found out the founder donated a million bucks to some far right nazi party I groaned.
And this isn’t the first time this has happened with something I use.
