it really is. I really liked Mullvad, really liked it. it was easy to setup, use, all I am to them is an account number. but when I found out the founder donated a million bucks to some far right nazi party I groaned.

And this isn’t the first time this has happened with something I use.

yeah last year I had a private forgejo on a bare metal server but I ditched that cause I was paying for something I wasn’t really using much. I might just bite the bullet and go back to that and also slap a VPN on it since with the recent mullvad bullshit I really don’t want to continue giving them money.

I was in the middle of patching a DWL build and I royally messed up one of the patches and it completely broke everything. had to pull down a fresh version of the patch and also pull in my nixos config…codeberg was down.

It was at that point I realized “yeeeeeah keeping my nixos system on codeberg and only on codeberg probably isn’t a good idea anymore.”

I do a once a week backup via borg but I’m starting to think I need an alternative for daily stuff.

  • They’ve never had a “high point” to begin with. The entire state was built on revenge. They hid behind the whole “anti-semite” bullshit the entire time to justify their actions until today when that term has lost all meaning. They utilized the Jewish faith as a crtuch and excuse to get away with their bullshit.

The best thing that ever happened to Israel was the Holocaust. We’re still reeling from the fall out of Hitlers bullshit to this day for the opposite reasons.

  • yeah he’s in his 70s and has been using computers for longer than I’ve been alive (i’m in my 40s). the minimalist nature of it appeals to him. likes really getting under the hood of linux so to speak. says he doesn’t like the “bells and whistles” of other distros.

He figured out suckless stuff before I did and convinced me to switch to DWM and ST which I have and he was right, I much prefer those over other WMs and Terminals. He once tried Gentoo but didn’t have the patience for it.

  • I don’t use Arch anymore but I can imagine that the install process turned a lot of people off it or pivoted them to stuff like Manjaro, CachyOS, Endeavour etc. It isn’t until recently that ArchInstall has become VERY good and simple.

Primary factor even with Archinstall is if you’re trying to install Arch via Wifi. you have to do iwd and all that and for someone who isn’t quite as comfortable on the command line yet that can be daunting. Even now for myself if I were installing Arch I still have to pull up the Arch Wiki during install cause I can never remember the iwd commands for wifi. I’ve also borked the install a couple times because I either forgot to include the networkmanager or selected the wrong video drivers.
