Snap packages have a larger install size, run slower, increase resource usage (so more RAM and CPU cycles), the snap store is a closed source system so you get things like Cryptocoin wallet scams , and personally, I think conceptually snap system leads to poor library maintenance long term

Curseforge, another Minecraft launcher that many modpacks get uploaded to and also supports multiple versions, has been working for about a year for me on Linux Mint too incase she ever wants that.

Getting a new credit card can heavily impact your credit score and impact financial decisions for years. It isn’t something that should be done if you can help it.

Many don’t have a choice, especially in the US. Without playing the credit game you end up paying significantly more in loan interest for things like a house or car or can’t even get a loan. One of the easiest ways to keep a good credit score is to have a credit card you’ve had forever and that you consistently use and pay off.

A lot of people either forget or don’t carefully track the money as spent when it’s still in their back account so they spend it again. It’s just generally a hassle and more work vs just having a habit of paying off as you go and being able to see exactly what’s still in your bank account.

I mean, I’m a little worried. Windows 7 and 10 not getting security updates is not great for, well, security. Seeing them rise is a little disconcerting unless they’re corporate machines and paying for the extra security updates.

It depends on the data but usually I’m just never offline. My NAS is accessible from around the world for my music and code repo and since I’m on IPV6 I didn’t even have to deal with port forwarding and reverse proxy nonsense. Photos I’m hosting an app that’s similar to Google photos and backs up from phone (it’s kind of custom to how I do things but there’s various self hostable apps). If I know I’m going to be truly offline unable to even connect through my phone somehow I’ll manually copy the files to my laptop. I haven’t done that in like five years though and it’s only been a mild inconvenience once and honestly I just disconnected and enjoyed a peaceful offline day.

Not typically. You’ll see police along the major highways for speeders and the like but no state border patrol like that. Legally often transporting across state lines is a crime in and of itself but it’s one of those things where they look the other way unless they catch you using whatever item.

That’s a version of decadence, and I got what you meant originally, but most speakers in the north (well, United States, Wales, and Toronto, Ontario as those are who I talk to most) think more of the excessive indulgence stemming from moral decline.
