Willy Wonka may not be hated, but he would definitely be vilified. There is no way a candy maker who refused to allow inspectors into his factory would be allowed to sell candy to the general public.
Plus, under the current administration, ICE would break in and forcibly deport (kidnap) all the Ommpa Loompas.

This is the first I’ve heard of it. My initial reaction is JUST LET IT DIE ALREADY

Totally understandable, even to someone who counts this film as a favorite. It is very slow moving.

She’s walking funny on purpose. Those are meant to be some kind of velcro or magnetic slippers she’s wearing. She’s walking carefully because she doesn’t want to go drifting around in microgravity while carrying a tray of food.
That’s my interpretation, anyway.

This film is my go-to whenever anyone mentions visual effects. If I were a director, this would be my gold standard for absolutely timeless effects.

Does anyone know what the current charges actually are? I gave up after looking at several articles, but I did find this:
This is not the first accusation against Smith. In 2016, he was arrested in Los Angeles and charged with misdemeanor domestic battery after an alleged confrontation with a woman at a Hollywood hotel.
Witnesses claimed they heard a woman screaming, “you’re choking me,” and saw Smith pinning the woman up against a wall. Smith left and was later arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department.
Smith and the woman released a joint statement at the time denying the allegations and claiming they were friends who had an argument. The charges were dropped due to a lack of evidence.
“Lack of evidence” seems to be cop-speak for “we can’t be bothered”.

I’d probably have to resort to fraud. I’d just say I needed seed money for some AI bullshit, and BAM, I’d be swimming in cash overnight.
Thank you for clarifying that this is satire

Thank you for your valuable perspective. I was just thinking that I’d take it as a compliment, but then, I’m a guy.
I love that pic, and love that scene

Gross. I’m sorry you have to put up with that.

Superman.
Yeah, that’s an obvious choice, but I like his character more than his superpowers. He’s civil and polite to various world governments, but ultimately, there’s no stopping him from doing the right thing.
If he’s too powerful and that’s a negative to you, substitute Captain America. The same reasoning applies.

If a perishable product comes in an opaque plastic container, that’s a deliberate choice. Always be suspicious of it.

Good thing we didn’t give them reason to distrust us by having ICE arrest a bunch of their citizens who were in the US legally… oh, wait…

Unless the judge is corrupt, Paxton will have to provide actual facts and evidence in order to win his ridiculous case. Merely calling acetaminophen a “possible” cause does not meet judicial standards. Unsupported crackpot guesses are not evidence. Neither are Facebook posts.
Unfortunately, J&J sucks, too. They just happen to have science on their side.

Neither am I. It seems unique because it’s actually become a tiny part of pop culture, which, to me, is what fits the definition of “memorable”. Nobody cares about some old guy in a cave distributing wooden swords.

“It’s dangerous to go alone. Take this.”
I bet there are people out there who hate video games but recognize this line.

With it’s reckless disregard for traffic laws, property, and lives, I thought Autopilot was already in Mad Max mode 100% of the time.
Good for you. Laws are nice, but sometimes firepower is the best option for securing your rights - especially if you live in a country where DEI is sneered at.
