Yeah it’s annoying and shitty, but it’s not so bad.
It’s mostly an issue in rural and suburban areas. The grocery store closest to me feels like it’s price gouging (Safeway) , and I try and go to other grocery stores for bigger trips like Wegmans or H-Mart.
Meat is especially bad, like $10/lb for ground chicken bad. Meanwhile at H-Mart it’s $3/lb.
Supermarkets should have cheaper prices, but now that they have formed a monopoly of just a few companies they are not.
Small shops keep supermarkets competitive, without them they become monopolistic.
In my opinion this seems like overdevelopment. No green spaces and such.
Obviously I’ve never been in an environment like this, but I can’t imagine it’s great.
Cars suck, but that doesn’t mean we should spend all our days in possibly cramped buildings.
Many cities had their convenient bus and tram line bought and dismantled by auto companies. All while under huge protest of residents too.
It was not a natural evolution that got us here.

I started riding on the road and was promptly rewarded with a nail in my tire. I’ll stick to my area’s multi use path.
Though admittedly if the speed limit and design limit are is 35mph or less I don’t mind the road since I’m on an ebike.
