Yeah they’re doing it backwards. AI is on by default unless you specifically go to noai.duckduckgo.com

If you select “No” it gives you an option to go to an alternate DDG homepage “noai.duckduckgo.com”. But it looks like if you just go to their normal homepage, they’ve got a link to DuckAI at the top, searching for images defaults to including AI images, and they have a Search Assist that uses AI as well.

So even though the overwhelming majority of their users have responded “No AI”, they’re still defaulting everyone to the “Yes AI” experience unless you use an alternate URL. That’s kind of shitty. I mean at least they have a “no” option, but seems like it should be the default.

Good point. When I go “how hard can it be?” and try to fix my car by myself - I inevitably end up eating humble pie and paying a mechanic.

I got an AI slop book for Christmas this year. I checked Amazon and someone spent $10 on this piece of shit. Cant help but feel like this is going to be more and more common very soon where buying anything has a high chance of just being a completely POS fake product.

Growing up, my dad used to download a lot of games off BBSes for me and my brother. He would save them on 3.5 floppies and then label what game was on each one. I’ve got fond memories of flipping through his box of floppies seeing what new games he had for us to play.

I also found that if you really want to be understood in French, you have to force yourself into an over the top, bordering on ridiculous French accent.

Not just sizes, but ingredients too. I used to drink those Naked Juice smoothies, which were originally just blended fruit with a little bit of apple juice added for liquid. They would write something on the back that said something like “this bottle contains 13 strawberries and 2 bananas”.

Then one day I noticed the drinks were much more runny that usual. I had to search for older pictures people had taken of their bottles, but sure enough all the numbers had changed - and apple juice was no longer a minor ingredient, it was the main one.

Lol my mom used to watched Days of Our Lives religiously. The funniest part to me was when people had kids. There was never much of a story in people raising babies, so they would age kids really rapidly. Like, someone had a baby. Next season the baby is 5 years old, next season they were 12, next season they’d be an older teen and then soon they’d be adults having kids of their own.
