It’s a small win but after months of agonizing over my contract end date and a million rejected job applications, I got extended for another few months. Honestly just a huge weight off my shoulders as I desperately needed a break from the job search and was only a couple weeks away from the end date. Plus, it’s looking likely they’ll be able to make my position permanent by the end of this extension 🤞🏽

I live in a suburban more than totally rural area but we have lots of trails and bushy areas around. Usually they just set up tents on the side of those trails. Walked past a guy who had an entire cot set up and was just napping on the side of a trail midday the other day. The benches in our area are also less anti-homeless than the ones downtown so I don’t doubt people sleep there at night.

I saw a video of one guy (who isn’t homeless but does urban camping on YouTube) set up camp in the middle of a roundabout with lots of bushes and I think that’s honestly probably one of the best spots where people wouldn’t find you/call cops on you.

I had a really bad coffee stain on my front teeth. Had tried the crest ones for a while but they weren’t helping. My hygienist did some treatment and told me it’ll probably come back because of the texture of my teeth, but told me to use the crest ones a few days ahead of a special event if I wanted a touchup. Stain came back.

Went to the dentist for an unrelated issue and my dentist noticed the stain, literally filed down my tooth in like 2 seconds and for free, and the stain has never come back again, lol.

When not in the mood for talking, singing bowls for sure.

When my brain can’t stop and I need a distraction, either the sleep with me podcast or welcome to nightvale. Sometimes Sleep Whispers but that one can be over stimulating for my lil ASMR brain.

Yeah my sister went to India a few years back by herself and while thankfully nothing terrible happened to her, she said she would never go back. Just walking around she said the streets are majority men and they are not shy about staring at any woman (especially someone who was clearly a foreigner). Of course, parts of the trip were cool but definitely not the place to be travelling alone as a woman.

When we started dating my partner told me I look like Jeff Goldblum (I am a female). He then bought us a Jeff Goldblum curtain for the bathroom and a portrait we put on the wall, as well as several records, keychains and cushions with Jeff (including that Jurassic park one). It’s weird as fuck but Jeff’s a handsome guy and a cool fucking person so I’m not too worried about it.

I do the thing where you drink water while rubbing your tongue on the roof of your mouth. Success rate is pretty low tbh.

I don’t like or watch hockey but I won tickets to a Canucks game once. It was pretty cool. My favourite part was the timbits team or whatever and it was just a bunch of like 4 and 5 year olds falling all over the ice at half time.

Someone can feel free to correct me but I’ve read that it’s also partly genetic.

I had two coworkers who were sisters and I got along with decently. Befriended the younger one and one day she invited me to a house party at the place she shared with her brother. Night ended with her yelling through the door “STOP FUCKING MY FRIENDS!” which I still think is hilarious.

Anyway we partied a lot and then settled down later and we’ve been together for 8 years now so it didn’t turn out too badly.

My first message to her contained a detailed, descriptive, as unceremonious as it was unambiguous list of preferences but it seems to be working out so far.

Sounds like the foundation for great communication to me.

It’s Facebook and YouTube probably. My dad is also in Canada and obsessed with American news but he watches CNN on a loop so at least it’s not the MAGA people he’s supporting.

Still though, worry about your own country. We got our own issues we should be focusing on here.

I use one that probably won’t be well liked around here but it’s called EZ Booster. It’s got ads which is annoying but it has an equalizer and can hella boost sound volume, which I was having issues with when playing audios from my browser. I haven’t played with the equalizer much but the volume booster on its own has made a huge difference for me.

Can I do the lobbying thing to get a nice human rights or climate law passed or is 100M still too poor for that

I would spend all 100M to get ads put up all over the country of people who have wronged me and my loved ones. They’ll just be like really awful pictures of them with really petty captions like “doesn’t help carry suitcases”, “laughed at a disabled person”, “sneezed too loud that one time”. That’ll show them.

I guess just municipalities describe it differently then. My city describes protected bike lanes as “dedicated bike lanes with concrete medians and planters, bicycle parking corrals, or vehicle parking lanes that divide them from vehicle traffic.”

The google image someone else posted of the street, to me, shows a regular bike lane.

Doesn’t change anything about this awful incident anyway, just thought the choice of words was interesting. Especially since later on in the article it says her death may have been prevented had there been a concrete median.

I’m not American and actually don’t know much about him but aside from the one glaring topic in that wiki, he sounds ok to me? Curious as to what shitty things he’s done if anyone feels like sharing.

Editing to say: the one glaring topic is a pretty fucking important topic in my books, but I don’t imagine any other American politician with a chance having a different opinion on the matter
