Honestly, sounds like a solid plan. The best time to start this would have been a decade ago. The second best time is now. To be fair, we already made good progress into this direction, bit we need to double down, that much has become obvious in the last few weeks.
Take away Iran’s ability to control who continues to receive oil from the gulf region.
Reduce Iran’s ability to monetize passage through the straight.
Reduce Iran’s ability to make money from its oil production.
Encourage other countries to increase pressure on Iran to agree to US terms.

I read the original article from the New York Times and found it compelling. There are quite a few coincidences that kind of line up, although none of it is hard evidence. But it’s the most reasonable investigation I’ve seen so far.

I agree. Most countries are trying to reduce their dependency on the USA right now. And why wouldn’t they, when the whole world can watch how Trump uses this dependency as a weapon against them.
I’m not sure if he doesn’t understand trust and soft power or doesn’t care. Maybe he realized that he is able to utilize it to temporarily get what he wants, which makes him look like a tough negotiator, and that someone else will have to deal with the long-term consequences of the broken trust.
I love it. We need to watch out for each other. We certainly can’t rely on the US anymore, even though some politicians haven’t accepted this new reality yet.

“Regular” customers are getting more irrelevant every day. There was a time when your role as a consumer was important for the economy. This role gave you power and influence because companies were competing for your money. This era is slowly coming to an end, something most people haven’t realized yet.
