  • a lot of amazon sellers simply mark working pulls as “refubrished” when all they did was reformat or if you are lucky did a zero fill and check that the sectors weren’t bad.

I don’t trust reburbs that aren’t manufacturer refurbished on any site because its a huge difference in the testing and checking being done.

I do sometimes buy used drives, but I know what I am getting there vs “refurbished” - and there is usually a pricing difference which is why so many are dishonestly calling used drives refurbs.

you want to look at the sellers warranty policies. if if they actually have one besides amazons, the seller is confident in their own items longevity

  • Its partly like that but its MORE so that they are utterly convinced that all thier troubles including that they are poor is some other groups fault, and even when they do have doubts they are unable to express them without fear of losing thier status in thier in-group. So they will keep on voting against thier own interests and blaming the wrong people for the results.

  • Doesn’t lose them money, the used game woudn’t make them anyway which is whu they lobbied to try and make reselling used games require a royalty or be illegal for years before everything became digital.

As for emulation they lie and call emulation itself illegal (the copies may be but emulation itself is not) because then they can’t pull a disney and “vault” old games on their digital storefronts and make you buy it again when they decide to just up shut down the previous server when they launch the next console.

They don’t want us to own the things we pay for. They want us to rent them while not realizing it.

  • A busted up acer netbook on a shelf in my basement ran a Final Fantasy XI private server for several years till it died and I migrated to something sturdier.

Display was wrecked, keyboard destroyed, trackpad gone… but a single usb port and a vga port still worked so I was able to install an OS. then I removed those and only ever remoted into it. I actually removed the busted display and keyboard to it’d vent heat better - it ran pretty hot and the ventilation on that thing was designed poorly. The reason the keyboard died was actually heat related, melting its underside and warping it.

FFXI Private servers will run on a 2 decades old potato, so this worked until it finally died despite some seriously pathetic specs.

(1gb ram upgraded to 2gb, 1 ghz intel atom single core cpu, yes really)
