To me this is different than Grok because Grok is a tool embedded in Xitter, that grabs the photos posted on the same platform to create the nasty images, so because the platform and tool are working in concert, X and Grok should be shut down over it if that function can’t be disabled.
On the other hand they only need a simple majority to confirm a Supreme Court majority of buffoons that don’t actually give a shit about the Constitution or even internal consistency, over their pet project to turn their country into an authoritarian state.

Since you’ve tried both, you can ground yourself in realistic expectations when thinking about either lifestyle.
When someone fantasizes about something, usually they are only thinking about the nice parts of that experience. And conversely, once a person is used to their current life, the novelty wears off and people tend to take some things for granted, not realizing they’re enjoying it until they don’t have it anymore.
So my suggestion is: Think about both the positives and negatives of the road you aren’t taking right now, then count the blessings of your current situation, then think about where you want to take yourself from there. Don’t give up on figuring out what you want, but if you’re getting what you think you want but still constantly yearning for something else, you should step back and evaluate things with just a bit more of a calm and rational mind.

My 2c on the issue, every software is moulded by the preferences of the developer(s) and its server admin. Sorry that your search for a permanent threadiverse home didn’t work out in the end for you. Hoping that a portable and independent ActivityPub federated identity system will be a thing in the not so distant future to help ease the moving process.
This is Canadian Tire Jumpstart so it’s likely operated by a charity foundation run by a major hardware retailer. The app system seems kind of stupid, but I don’t believe at first glance the aim was to profit out of this scheme.
I like that there are a variety of apps and services for different tastes and needs. On services, I like that Pixelfed and Loops exist to fill Instagram style niches for people even if it’s not my cup of tea. Jerboa is a no-frills Lemmy app and that’s how I want it, but I appreciate that there are many others with a plethora of features and styling choices that suit people, and are not forced to a single kind of experience.
Go for easy wins. If it’s cleaning my house, pick up one or two socks, I put it in the right spot, then find something in the area I dropped the socks off, get that organized. And just keep doing that until everything is where I feel it needs to be.
If it’s a healthy habit, daily flossing as an example, I don’t beat myself over missing a day or three, I just focus on the fact I am going to do it today, in fact as soon as I am able to. Make some kind of reminder for you to do it again, either in your calendar, or by placing floss packs in places you will notice them, or your wallet, phone etc.
Focus from induced panic is only for things I would be in trouble for not completing.
There is a world in which you don’t have to sacrifice restaurant jobs while still having a proper minimum wage and having some level of tip culture. I live there, it’s called Canada. Servers, cooks and cleaners can make good money from tips while still being paid at the very least $15Cdn/hr ($10.60 US) by the restauranteur, higher outside the Prairies. Tipped minimum wage exists in Quebec but it is $13.30Cdn/hr ($9.35 US). It doesn’t have to be a one or the other situation, you can call it entitlement, but I call replacing wages with tips shifting the blame.

The circle around our Earth at that latitude has a circumference of 2 × pi × 6371 × cos(theta), kilometres, where theta is the latitude (imagine a triangle between the starting location, the centre of our model Earth and a point partway along a line that connects the equator and the centre). Divide that by 24, and that is the distance you need to travel in my model scenario to go back an hour, and thus the speed in km/h the westbound train needs to go to repeat the same hour again consistently.

Like you, this is the basis of a lot of my motivation to try and then stick with these FOSS programs, but perhaps differently than you, it also guides the extent to which I feel comfortable continuing to use some proprietary software and algorithms. I’ve committed to interacting with technology on my terms, even if I have reduced but not fully cut myself off from big tech.
I don’t think you’re alone. I’m serious and occasionally judgemental on Lemmy, and if I am discussing something I care deeply to ensure the accuracy of my facts whenever I make a claim.
In contrast, on meme and shitpost communities, I’m a lot less serious and more of a jokester. My suggestion is it might be best for you to avoid the politics communities. Make some posts sharing your pics, arts and crafts, there is much less judgement (and for people that think it’s their job to judge your craft beyond helpful and constructive criticism, you should block).
Oh, also if you see a comment that is nested more than 6 times down, and it’s not the AskOuija community, it’s probably best to skip over reading all that, becuase it’s often two annoying users going at each other. They might be having fun, but there’s no need to get yourself involved.
