We can put paper bags over our heads if we forgot our towels though.

The DEA needs to be dismantled and have all those tax dollars put to better use.
I take ADD drugs for a central nervous system disorder(they keep me awake) and my Dr is really worried about me not being able to get them since I can’t work without them. I know folks with ADD need them to function too(drs are prescribing my less used medication to replace adderall) so now everyone’s suffering because some douchbags in the DEA decided drs are the enemy.
My drs office just got audited by the DEA so all her patients on stimulants and painkillers had to do urine drug tests.
Sorry for the rant. But seriously, defund the DEA.
The problem is that ad revenue brings in more money than subscription models ever can. So they’re either super expensive because the company is accustomed to the high profits of ads, OR they inevitably end up slipping ads into the paids versions too.
Youtube has become this venus fly trap where content creators get exploited. They exist on the site solely to draw in viewers to show ads to. YouTube doesn’t really care about the content or their creators(they don’t care about paying them either since there’s endless accounts) their primary function is to sell ads. That’s it.
With data harvesting and personalized ads they basically print money for themselves. Now each ad spot will show something different to each person, meaning they are getting paid by multiple(potentially hundreds or thousands) of companies for each available ad location. They don’t care if you buy the product because they got paid the second that ad popped up on your screen.
Ad based revenue is creating a huge fucking mess for everyone.
They also turned them into oil paint. Mummy/egyptian brown was a thing.

I dont know why people do shit like this. Find some rare, finite resource of information and do just about everything with them except study them respectfully. Eat them, grind them into paint, rich people having “unwrapping parties.”
Humans are so deeply disappointing.
They know if they do that people will just disable their cameras or put tape over it like they already do. If they make it so you can’t disable the camera without losing functionality then people won’t buy the product.
If they try to push it by making a gentleman’s agreement with their competitors to make all tvs or phones use camera eye contact during ads well have to have fight back with more ad blockers and such.
I see your point, I do. But I also see theirs. There will be no one around in the future to enjoy or make art if we continue fucking up the world with fossil fuels the way we are.
Maybe it’d be better to walk around posting little signs on the paintings descriptions with a catch phrase like “like art? Stop fossil fuels” then a little blurb about how there’ll be no art in the future if there is no future.
That’s probably how I’d handle it, maybe even try to work with the museum so the signs wouldnt get taken down. But, that doesn’t get media attention. It’d never end up in the news. Maybe after contacting 50 museums it’d get a small mention, but ultimately no one would care.
Our current news cycles don’t encourage people to act civilly when trying to be heard. So that’s why this sort of extreme behavior keeps happening. It’s a vicious feedback loop and just like climate change we don’t seem to be making any moves to stop it.
I guess I’m fucking strange because I tend to game in complete silence.
It’s not a competition, but priorities. The things that kill innocent people should be higher on the list when writing new policies. Clearly the policies in place are not enough to prevent drunk driving and people are still getting killed from it. It’s still a problem and has been a problem and we should focus on that more than we currently are.
If people are still driving drunk with it being illegal and we can’t even get that under control with current laws, how can we expect the new laws regarding vaping to be productive?
And tbh this is quite personal. I’ve lost a friend to drunk driving about every 2 years since I turned 18. My friend’s alcoholic father murdered him when I was younger. I’ve seen nothing good come from that shit and it destroys lives. I don’t see vaping as even remotely comparable to the destruction alcohol can do.
I’d rather be near someone vaping than a drunk person.
The vaping I can walk away from, but a drunk driver could kill me.
I find public drunkenness to be more deadly and problematic than vaping, but that just my opinion regarding public health issues.
Dude, I 100% get what your saying.
Unfortunately what your asking of people requires personal sacrifice, and people will mentally go all over the place to resist that.
A personal anecdotes is that I’m no longer in contact with my family because I refused to see my racist grandfather on his deathbed and didn’t attend his funeral.
My grandfather was an abusive, literal stereotype of a racist(would say things like “them n-words down the road are fucking up this town”) and a raging alcoholic. The world is better because he’s fucking dead. Now I don’t have a family of origin because I wouldn’t pretend he was a good person.
Men will lose friends and family if they start calling this shit out. It’s hard. You get told to “mind your business” or "it’s just a joke " or get your masculinity questioned. Or the whole “but they’re family” thing. I get why people resist it. No one wants to lose their social support, but often that’s what it comes down to, and they’ll make it feel like you’re the one who’s in the wrong the whole time.
Social pressure is a hell of a thing. I think framing the context around why men don’t call this stuff out will help them recognize why they should.
Being a good human being is an option for everyone.
And I know this is from a kids cartoon, but Uncle Iroh from Airbender embodies benevolent masculinity pretty well. If we want children and young men to be socialized better, a good place to start is with our media depicting more characters like that.
The optimist in me wants to think that maybe one of those viruses can be used to cure some other diseases via genetic modification.
The pessimistic part of me wonders if this will be the start of a pandemic cycle that never ends until most people are dead.
I want it to be the first one please.
In scots gaelic purple is ‘purpaidh’ pronounced “pur-pee” which is equally as strange imo
This is why I’ll probably never travel unless I can take a boat or something. Crying babies aggravate my misophonia to such a severe degree that I will do everything in my power to not be trapped in a small space with even one(no i dont have children.)
So airplanes are a no go. Basically anywhere else I can remove myself. But in a plane you’re stuck. I know babies can’t help crying, and I can’t help my reaction, but I can also choose to not get on a plane. Babies go where their adult takes them.
If I can logically parse out that airplanes aren’t a mode of transit I can tolerate maybe others should do the same. Then maybe kids won’t get locked in freaking bathrooms over this shit.
That’s fucking awful. I genuinely hope you find yourself surrounded with people who love and respect you. I know life can be utter shit, but I’m glad you’re still here.
Perhaps you can get a gofundme for dentures or implants in the future? It’d improve your quality of life and is worth pursuing if you feel like it’s something you have energy for.
Regardless of whatever the case may be, men should be encouraged to protect their sexual health.
Women have gynecologists they see to monitor and do preventative care, discuss birth control methods ect.
Men don’t typically see a urologist unless theres an issue, and because of that there are less opportunities for them to ask questions, or be educated about STI’s and ways to protect themselves. Or know the potential long term risks of common STIs or even the symptoms.
Add to that common misconceptions about condoms, user error while using them, and cultural attitudes and men are kinda set up to not use them in way. Men’s health is important. I worry for my nephews who are getting into their early 20’s. I hope what I tried to teach them makes a difference.
This comes from my own observations, and might not be a popular take, but men are often encouraged or celebrated for having multiple partners and not using protection.
This attitude puts men(especially young men) at risk for STI’s, some of which can affect fertility even if a course of antibiotics will take care of it. Others don’t have cures yet, or are not as easy to treat like herpes, the different hepatitis strains, HIV, genital warts ect.
This attitude towards sex for men puts their health at risk and their partners.
The amount of times I’ve seen dudes encourage each other to not use condoms is kinda distressing. I don’t think guys are being educated on how a condom should fit and how to find the right size. They shouldn’t be uncomfortable. If they are try a different kind.
Women often have to try different birth control pills until they find one with minimal side effects. Try different condoms until you find the right ones for you. It’s to protect your dick from diseases, not just to stop pregnancy.
Take care of yourselves guys. Your health is important.
Depending on location, it’s too freaking hot to be doing yard work anytime past 11 in the summer months. 9 - 11am is usually when I get my shit done.
Then again, with my neighbors have a similar work schedule to me, so I guess I’m not bothering anyone.
Some feminists(not misandrists) are trying to take the word back from terfs and misandrists.
It also doesn’t help public perception of feminism when you have conservatives using words like ‘feminazi’ to discredit the movement entirely and give people the impression that all feminists hate men. Thanks Rush Limaugh.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feminazi
Admittedly there are some fringe parts of the movement that are in need of constant criticism(terfs in particular, misandrists). It unfortunate when extremists start trying to overtake a movement and start shoving bullshit into it, but it’s not impossible to take it back. Just a lot of work and community effort from folks acting in good faith.
People can get really defensive and hostile about fireworks and I’ve never really understood it.
I quit smoking at the beginning of this summer because it’s a terrible habit that’s inconsiderate to others at best(and bad for me too). So I quit. The thing is I actually liked smoking…Nicotine is something else(I used nicotine gum for anyone wondering)
So if I can accept that about smoking, why is it so hard for folks to understand that fireworks, while enjoyable, can have detrimental effects to other living creatures nearby? Some of whom might be people? It’s just really strange to me.
