American geography education is terrible but I think a majority of Americans could point out the western nations at least, the balkans and baltics are probably a lost cause though unless you happen to get a paradox game enjoyer

The Amtrak station in St. Louis is not a great spot to leave anything of value. I live in St. Louis so I’m not one of these crazies that thinks my city is a war zone but that lot gets plenty of attention from thieves breaking windows looking for guns and money.
And SoIL folks don’t go to Chicago, remember there is a substantial number of Illinoisans calling for everything south of Springfield to be split into the 51st state. No it wouldn’t be sustainable or make sense but they hate being “controlled” by cook county
True, my southern Illinois relatives are aware they can catch an Amtrak to the cities, but the trains suck really bad and the stations are often in a terrible place to leave anything of value (like your car) so they just drive when the occasionally need to go to the city for something like real healthcare

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an experience that is unique to your country of residence?
2·1 year agoWalk in the Vatican City or il duomo in Italy, or St. Paul’s, St. George’s, or Westminster in England, or la sagrada familia in Barcelona… or a large number of other mega churches. Once inside you’ll see they’re comparable to modern mega churches but made ENTIRELY OF MARBLE instead of cheap ass sticks and drywall like American buildings. If you’ve ever been sitting in the pews of il duomo you’ll know you’re truly in a mega church, and once you’re done with service, there like 6 saints entombed a hundred yards from the pulpit, still inside mind you and nowhere close to any of the entrances

262·1 year agoPlease don’t refer to trump as the god-emperor. The 40k community has a hard enough rejecting idiots with no media literacy without people helping them associate the 40k world with their conservative delusions
So what, we’re supposed to watch and support poor quality media in the hopes that eventually a piece gold shows up in the turd pile?
No, if they make good content people pay for it, if they don’t make good content then they can’t whine.
If only our vendors made Linux versions of their systems and regulators would approve them or the OS but no, my regulators only allow windows and approved software that they verify the hashes of every few months for changes

31·2 years agoJust because their parents are bad parents doesn’t mean there are regulations and restrictions… at the end of the day parents need to parent and so many are unwilling to do so.
I will mention I have no problem with nude beaches or public toplessness of both genders, religious prudishness has no place in the modern world

My dad always has trucks, whole 30 years of my life. To prevent groceries flying around you tie the bags and put them close to the cab, unless they’re really light and that case you put them in the cab. He never had crew cab until much later in my life so stuff had to go in the bed as 90s extended cabs were not very extended lol the days of the single fold down seat behind the main front seats sucked for me
