Japan has been highly patriarchal, hating of foreigners, especially gaijin, and fairly conservative overall if only from a Shinto/Tao/Buddhist perspective than a Christian perspecitve like the rest of the west.

Insurance companies are a blight for many reasons, but in this case its because they make “risk” the #1 factor for everything a company does. If movies are too risky profit-wise, they wont get favorable insurance policies for that film and therfore the studio would take on too much risk if they produced it.
