  • You’re definitely on the right track.

The only actual job of the police is to file crime reports.

They do not prevent crime. Protect innocents. Make people show up for court etc. They have no obligation to stop a crime in progress or protect someone being hurt, even if they’re standing right there and could stop it.

Anything in the justice system that you value is either done by someone else, or actually isn’t done at all.

  • Bathroom attendants - since people got all the high value stuff.

I don’t mean people that clean the bathroom etc.

I mean the guy that stands at the sink and makes awkward small talk before handing you a towel you could have got yourself and expects a tip.

EDIT: Y’all I’m pretty sure no one’s having sex or shooting up in the bathroom at the fucking Eiffel Tower restaurant in Las Vegas … Coke - probably. I don’t know where anyone else has seen a bathroom attendant, but every place I’ve seen one at I’ve been wearing a suit…

  • EPA has never banned small trucks. This is from consistent misinformation that shifts blame from car manufacturers to the government.

EPA made a scaled plan that required improvements to emissions from smaller trucks first, then larger trucks over the years.

Car manufacturers chose to abuse that flexibility by simply not making smaller trucks, instead of making ones that meet the standards, which is why trucks have steadily inflated in size in the US as they make whatever the next unregulated size class is that year.

You can of course partially blame EPA for not having the foresight to predict that would happen - but they also make regulations under pressure from politicians and lobbyists who are themselves influenced by car manufacturers.

  • Everyone blames EPA while forgetting two things.

The manufacturers chose to do this; no regulations prevent them from making a vehicle like the one on the left that meets the new standards. They’re just evading the standards.

Politicians of all walks allow regulatory capture, so almost all regulations are influenced by the people that should be regulated, making them useless or easy to evade.
