I dare them to fuck up Chrome. It’ll be the easiest switch of my life.
The smell has been in the air for almost a year, if you haven’t changed your shoes yet I don’t know what to tell you.
My foot’s already half way out the door. I have all my plugins and password manager ready to go when I end up making the switch.
The only annoying thing right now is, there’s no tab groups on Firefox, and Google sites like Gmail and calendar have a weird aesthetic behavior where scroll bars show up where they shouldn’t be. It’s like nails on a chalkboard but for my eyes.
I also really do like using GPay in Chrome on Mobile when it’s available but I’ll have to forego that, or just use it when I need to.
Sidenote, Google knows it’s coming too cuz they made their password manager much better, and released passkey support. The timing is too perfect, they want another reason for people to stay. Good thing I have my own password manager!

there is presently an enormous amount to hate about chrome, which google uses to serve their advertising platform. Chome now wants to lock down the free and open internet only to browsers that serve their advertising platform, outlawing ad blockers. ad blocking is cyber security. how do those boots taste?
I hate Chrome as much as the next guy, but I just logged into Lemmy and the first 7 posts I see are anti-chrome memes by this guy, all posted withing 30min lmao

And it’s fucking annoying. Like, we get it. You hate chrome. The exact same comments are on every single one of these posts. It’s an echo chamber.
In a sense, I kind of half-agree with you. I think spamming anti-Google propaganda should be done, but in a more mainstream platform instead of something like Lemmy where almost everyone already agrees and likely have taken appropriate measures.
