Whenever I visit SF for work once a quarter it feels like there is a cult running the city. Yet they can’t even keep their elevators at the transit stops working cuz fuck the poor and disabled. Point is, SF has a weird sense of priorities and I don’t really trust the common wisdom coming from that place. I love Oakland though, some of the best food to be found there

I mean even defining what is the “common good” is political and that is the point of the exercise. If art exists that is deemed bad for society then we tend to ban it. For example, there are people who define CSAM as art, but the cost to society is so great we don’t allow even the possession of such material.

Here’s an idea: ban unsafe software for cases where safety is a requirement OR hold these companies accountable for illegal outcomes (no more “oops, our software hacked a competitor” without getting hit with a lawsuit). Newsome would never do something so sensible as it would hurt his donors’ bottom line.
