My excitement for all of this has disappeared. I don’t want to put any more money into it. I’ll still be around on a different account that I had before I launched my own.
When I first launched it, I planned on doing a porn instance, kind of like lemmynsfw did. A lot of instances prematurely blocked mine. I reached out to a lot of them in the beginning and they cleared me from it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is the difference between Lemmy and Reddit from the average user standpoint?English
11·2 years agoNo ads/tracking. That’s really it. Any of the other complaints I had on Reddit are here and in most cases even worse.
The API issue was the biggest one for me and what made this all intriguing. Now apps are getting around that. Winston for Reddit is beautifully designed and even guides a user to creating their own API key to add to the app. This API key provides you with a limit of 100 requests a second. Which is more than enough. (You could also do this on modded Apollo’s).
The average user just downloads the Reddit app though.
What’s the reasoning for all of those problems?

3·2 years agoI’ll prolly give it a shot at some point. I bought lifetime plex long before jellyfin was a thing. Is there an experience similar to plexamp? It’s too good.

42·2 years agoPlex allows this as long as you set whatever devices local IP on the allow without authorization list. I also know that plex just gets shit on the fediverse. Jellyfin doesn’t have local allowance baked in? I’ve never used it.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How can we encourage to post more than just a link?English
14·2 years agoThat’s what the title is for. This is a link aggregator.
Use a better front end that summarizes content, like Tesseract.
The community it’s in should tell you why it’s posted.

Yeah it can be. It’s as simple as that or a drive clone.
