Yeah, I wasn’t going to go and call that case-closed; industry tactics exposed, story at 11:00. It’s a theory and intentional or not (misspellings) I think there’s a definite possibility it’s working as described in some cases.
I like the SaaS theory too, ransomware clearly operates using exactly that model… unfortunately there’s been a few investigations and a lot of it is just the intersection of actual and economic slavery. I suspect there’s some of what you propose as well, why not, right? If we can dream it up somewhere somebody’s probably trying it. But I’d also wager that once you achieve any real proficiency at this kind of low level scam, there’s opportunity in organized computer crime, spearfishing and pretexting scams, operations with more sophisticated planning.
Never even occurred to me but it seems obvious now thst you’ve mentioned it.
Thank you for taking the time to clarify all that.
Tilt is really critical for a good drawing and especially painting experience.
Now I’m confused again… the specific Lenovo pen you got supported tilt? You mentioned mmp 2.0 was coming, or something to that effect, that was the next version I was referring to.
Cool. I wasn’t aware that tilt was coming in the next version :-)
Oh I didn’t think there’s anything wrong with it, I love oh-my-zsh. But it did feel like a bit of a cannery in the coal mine scenario when they elevated it the default and said they would phase out bash because of the GPL license.
I’m pretty sure that just free is harder to tax. Remember having to stop and explain what unix was? :-)
You should probably help out the OP by mentioning a few by name ;-)
No idea… stopped listening after I was adminished for my “god damnit…” ;-)
In my limited experience Wacom pens don’t work with anything but Wacom tablets… I don’t own one of the “new” fancy ones with a screen, but capacitive (most new touch screens) don’t seem to detect the Wacom pen. There are pens out there that are supposed to work with any capacitive screen, but I don’t think they provide the force/angle information that the Wacom pen does.
Yeah, gotta’ love how all the Apple fanboys were like Bash? Meh’ zsh is the superior shell in the span of a day.
I mean was the GPL viral… yeah probably. But it’s not like the courts came after either of them. Or ever really will in a meaningful way. Although hope springs eternal for non-webkit browsers in the not-EU 😌
Pretty sure I read that paper a few years back ;-)
I love it, totally should have gone with that.
“This is Linus Torvalds introducing minix as Linux.”
Yeah… but it was just RMS yelling at people from a street corner, nobody actually used it until Linux came along ;-)
I had a teacher that screamed at me for “taking the lords name in vain…” They’re definitely wrong from time-to-time ;-)
Non linear evolution at it’s finest ;-)
It’s a lot harder to keep track of than it used to be but (holy crap) we won… mostly.
Oh it sounds like you understand it correctly :-)
Thank you for taking the time to type this all up, you have expertly summarized the situation and I’m very grateful. Even with focused research it can be very hard to gain an objective understanding of complex subjects these days… doubly so when polaring topics like how to do desktop linux right are involved.
I suppose it would be foolish of the Wayland devs to wade into the middle of those waters if they want their work to remain beneficial to all. And suddenly the abstract technical details in the linked article make more sense to me… they really want to remain abstract from some of the implementation details.
This does seem a bit grim… and it perfectly explains why my problems could be fixed and one distro/wm and not another while still somehow being a “waylaid issue.” I suppose the best solutions/implementations will probably at least end up being shared in principle… I don’t really know enough about the current state of either desktop to be sure, I just wanted to say something positive :-)
Obviously you’ve never been… everything here causes cancer. We’re amending the law next year so we can just label everything that isn’t carcinogenic because it will substantially reduce the number of Prop 65 labels that end up in landfills ;-)
