I have a workmate who loves to act dumb. We’ve decided fish aren’t animals, they are indeed fish, we’ve also decided jellyfish are crustaceans.
Do we have to decide to share the Nobel prize or does a committee decide that for us?

Technology@beehaw.org•AWS outage reminds us why $2,449 Internet-dependent beds are a bad ideaEnglish
2·2 months agoIt stayed fairly stationary when I used it, it did start to drift over consecutive nights so I’d pull it back into position a couple of times a week. But I’m also only talking about 50mm or so of movement.
I can’t remember it causing any problems with the other sheets. Though some of my fitted sheets are well past their use limit and it could just be my tolerance to them not fitting that well to begin with.

2·2 months agoA thin-ish water filled mattress topper hooked to a cooling system to try and maintain a temperature. Even with A/C and a fan I can still get quite warm while I sleep and getting one of these systems has helped me a lot with having a more well-rested sleep.
The brand that I went with: https://hydrosnooze.com/

2·2 months agoI bought a cooling cover for my bed last year and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever bought. I’m looking for the one I wanted to buy I wanted to avoid anything that communicated offsite because why the hell does my bed need to talk to a server?? The one I ended up buying has some basic touch controls and does 100% of what it needs to.

Well TIL. Cheers!
I don’t know if this is a stupid question; why? Been a fair while since I watched the first season, maybe there’s something I’ve forgotten?

Technology@beehaw.org•"Valve must stop making excuses": Steam under fire for "significant price disparity for PC games," causing regional pricing that's "often 20% to 30% higher than the dollar equivalent"English
4·2 months agoThis is what I’ve heard too. $60-70 sounds steep in America (and fair enough) but it’s prohibitively expensive in poorer countries. Honestly, I’ve always been good with the price disparity if it means more people can afford to enjoy games as long as it’s not used by companies for price gouging in the countries where they can charge more.

3·3 months agoReminds me of an interaction I had with my ISP lately. I’m with an ISP who takes pride in using local tech support and I was calling to see if they could remove cgnat from my line. Dude knew exactly what I wanted, there was no language barrier, no AI jank, just a guy who also had his own homelab and knew why cgnat could be a problem. 5 minutes on the phone and the problem was solved. Glowing 10/10 feedback from me.
Anyone here running large dual 21:9 monitors? I have a great primary monitor and my old monitor that works ok. I’m thinking of mounting them in the lawful evil config but feel like it’s going to be uncomfortable to use. Anyone with a similar set up willing to let me know their experience?

science@lemmy.world•Fish Suffer Up to 22 Minutes of Intense Pain When Taken Out of WaterEnglish
3·6 months agoAs far as I’m aware NO2 will fill a pit. In the industry I work in NO2 leaks are serious threat because the engines that are worked on are in, what is essentially, a cage that you walk down into. I’ve not experienced it myself but heard from someone who experienced it firsthand as you just start feeling sleepy. I know now that it’s because our bodies are sensitive to asphyxiation from CO2 but not NO2, so as it displaces the oxygen in our lungs you just start getting woozy and tired.
All that being said; I am not an expert. Half this is information from diesel mechanics who work with it and the other half is from random science videos. So take it with a grain of salt.
Can confirm I’m having the same issue.
