Ireland has some good foreign policy positions due to being a victim of british colonialism for hundreds of years, and feeling affinity with other victims of settler-colonialism, but after the civil war, they fully adopted the model of governance of their oppressors.

Ireland is now just like other western states, ruled by finance capital, and suffers all the same problems (a housing and rent crisis, production exported to low-wage countries, etc). A lot of US tech companies even use Ireland as an off-shore tax-haven.

BAE and Boeing (who manufacture weaponry used against Arab countries and in Palestine) have plants in Ireland. They also let the US use their bases in its war on Iraq, and had active troops in the war to break up Yugoslavia, and also had troops to fight against Syria.

Ireland is kind of a case-study in what not to do after an anti-colonialist revolution.

  • Capitalism is less than 400 years old, and feudalism took probably triple that to fully die out. These are world-historic processes taking a long time, involving new energy sources, technological developments, and declining surpluses.

Capitalism has had many crackups already, and is now in its late stage in most of the world. Even most of the populations of capitalist countries, when polled, are pessimistic about their future.

Losurdo has a few good chapters specifically about a lot of the modern german ideological support for zionism in his book War and Revolution.

It’s a really complicated subject, dealing with the historical guilt from the judeocide, and supporting Israel being an easy and surface-level way to alleviate that guilt.

Over 10 of the downvotes so far are from zero-content accounts.

It’lll be interesting to see how pro-zionist or political party PACs devoted to social media influencing like (correct-the-record for the US democratic party) will affect the fediverse, and what we can do about it.

All of Marx’s main concepts, surplus value, classes and class struggle, alienation, are just as relevant today as when they were written. Much like Newton, Marx built the solid foundation that scientific socialists stand on today.

The Obama administration dropped an average of 60 bombs every single day, on the middle east and north africa, during his presidency.

Has there been any reckoning or reflection on that atrocity, within the democratic party?

Oh, you’re seriously gonna pretend that moloch is better than baal is??? The hellfire demons eating civilians at random would be soo much worse if moloch were running things.

    • Voting third party (i don’t care if jesus promised to end the hellfire demons, his party won’t win, and is just a spoiler for the baal vote) - a vote for moloch.
    • Not prefacing a criticism of baal’s administration (cmon, we all know he realistically can’t stop the hellfire demons) without first saying you’ll vote for him? Also a vote for moloch.
    • Not voting - a vote for moloch.
    • Going to the bathroom? Believe it or not, also a vote for moloch.
