It’s absolutely not impossible.

It’s irresponsible and stupid, but it’s absolutely not impossible. People and systems can be smart, but often they are very very dumb.

That said, I wouldn’t be shocked if nobody could be bothered to remove it from a target list under the idea of claiming it was an accident or something.

But do I think it’s impossible the people putting it on the target list didn’t know? Not at all. (But do I think it was likely there wasn’t someone who knew? Also yes)

Came here to say basically this. I read that it used to be on the compound, but that it was separated out by a wall and made into a school some time ago - long enough that it means (if it’s true) we were using very outdated data, but you can apparently see on Google maps that it used to be part of the compound but now is outside the compound.

So a charitable interpretation is that we used outdated information to bomb what we thought was a military building. And of course there are less charitable interpretations.

Although considering the alternative^[1], at this point I do hope they do live through it.

When it stops having negative outcomes on peoples’ lives.

I was not the one who passed Citizens United.

I was not the one who set up Fox News and right-wing radio as propaganda outlets.

I was not the one who chose to make the Republicans work with Evangelicals to push wedge issues.

I was not the one who bought up all the media outlets to push Republican propaganda.

But sure, put all the blame on me when I’ve done my part to vote, try and convince others to vote, protested some when I could which hasn’t been all that much. I even have a wikipedia page because of something I did in 2009 to try and help.

But keep on blaming me and not the fascists and not the oligarchs who actually orchestrated this thing if it makes you feel better about yourself.

Editorialized title aside… the thing about parking is that in the US, we’re sparse and spread out and need cars in most places.

You want to eliminate cars? Build densely. Replace great swaths of our suburbs with medium to high density housing + commercial spaces where people don’t need cars to go shopping or eat at restaurants or grocery shop. Then you’re also dense enough to be able to support great public transportation. And then you can greatly reduce the number of cars.

It’d be great. I’d love to be able to walk^[1] to shopping and restaurants. I’d love to take good public transportation to my doctor visits and elsewhere.

But that requites a radical re-thinking about how we live, and then a radical re-building.

I’d be all for it - the cost savings of not owning a vehicle would be fantastic, and while electric cars wll help, congestion and pollution are even less of a problem with a great public transportation network.

I happened to see this comment first which is great because it means I can ignore everything else you said because this is one of those stupid things troll say. It’s about the level of “I KNOW YOU ARE BUT WHAT AM I”.

I’m sure it makes you feel better about yourself, but it’s just as stupid as when I get angry and people not reading what I wrote^[1] and bitching at them, which nets even more downvotes because people DEFINITELY don’t take the time to read my ranting about them not reading what I wrote in the first place.
