It’s okay, I rarely have sympathetic takes tbh. Some years ago I would have totally agreed with you but not anymore.

Reality taught us that you don’t cave with bullies and the ONLY appropriate response to intolerance is intolerance. Swiss government and people (just like in the UK) gave EU the middle finger. The appropriate response should be to sanction them to oblivion. They want to be independent? Let them be, fully tho.

If we keep excusing terrible people, we will eventually end up in a terrible position.

I never said I was wideminded or that EU doesn’t have problems. We do have many. But if we talk about new upcoming companies I personally rather support EU countries.

Swiss people should be happy about this. I refuse to support it, that’s it. If you think they are almost european, then why not join? Or at very least help your neighbours when they need it and don’t play the high ground when convenient.

Switzerland always benefited from being a secure and reliable country thanks to his position in central EU and his cowardice in modern conflicts.

If you are known to be neutral, then accept people will treat you with indifference. Join the EU, abide by its law (especially the fiscal ones) then you will have my support.

Until this happens I rather support Italian or German companies who pay taxes to the EU community.

Thank you for the comment and explanation. I was hoping for comments like this from people much more knowledgeable than me on this. The dual NAS thing is really not a bad idea.

At the beginning I can start with the laptop battery. Later I can remove it and use an external battery/power bank to keep it running. Once I set it up I feel I’ll have more time troubleshooting this too. Thanks.

I should check but i think i have 4/5x 1Tb NAS HDD, 1x1Tb enclosed SSD (now plugged in via ubs to the synology). Now that I think about it yes, I should probably buy some more but all my data is just 1/2 Tb in total.

I’m going to attach some used hard disks and ssds, I have many spare ones. I wanted to set up a RAID2 or 3, so even if some disks dies it’s not the end of the world.

Not really a question, just if anyone knows a good trusted guide I can follow to do this or if you have tips and tricks.

Yes I was thinking something like TrueNas or OMV would do the trick. I feel that a general headless distro could be harder to set up.

You can manufacture users, usage, statistics if you really want, and slowly infiltrate every app. You can lose money (to a certain point) if you get something back, not if users start going crazy with your toys.

My point is that this feels a lot like early internet age where everything is free and the bill is due in 10 years.

Yea I pretty much do the same, even tho I still need to figure it out the pass-through for the gpu. And also to be clean, as much as I would love to, gimp and inkscape are not ready for professional use I think. Krita is nice but not very useful to be. Instead kdenlive really shames premiere and AF, i was blown away.
