It is. Go into your account settings -> blocks and at the bottom is a section for blocking instances.
I’ve got Lemmy.ml in there. You’ll still see comments from their users and posts from users in other communities but you shouldn’t see any of their communities in your feed.
Why not block the entire instance in your settings?
Such people aren’t fans of the sport, they go primarilly to cause trouble in a group.
I think that’s football fans in general to be honest.
Monthly Active Users (MAU) is probably the best metric for the health of Lemmy. A lot of these instances that are shutting down may be single-user instances or ones that people spun up just to mess about with them.

For me feddit.uk stuck out as when I was joining Lemmy, (my initial choice was lemmy.world), it seemed like it would be a safe bet as it was clearly set up by UK based people that had also come from Reddit like myself, so it had a sense of familiarity. I’m guessing that’s why the other feddit.<tld> also became somewhat popular instances.
We very nearly lost feddit.uk to the same issue. The admin who set the instance up just went AWOL, I’m guessing he spun it up during the reddit exodus and then just lost interest in the project. Fortunately people managed to contact him and gave two people admin access to take over it.
Lessons learned: don’t join an instance with a single admin.
Wait, do other countries not do this? So if a public holiday falls on a Saturday it doesn’t get pushed to Monday?

The EU skeptisicm isn’t just a converative thing. The majority of front-bench MPs during the referendum era were Pro EU, and the labour party were divdied on it too. Jeremy Corbyn would never ever give a straight answer on his position on the EU because he was staunchly anti-EU, but his base supporters were hard-remainers.
When conservatives have any power at all, they use it to make the UK worse and keep it that way. This is just the nature of conservatism.
