  • TTRPGs: first system playing in college, I’ve been playing and running games for various groups over the last ~13 years.

Video games: played so much Donkey Kong Country with my dad as a little kid. Never truly stopped ever since.

3d modeling/animation: It’s my job, and I use it for personal reasons.

Cooking: Learned along side cooking with my parents and watching food network before it was overrun with competition cooking.

  • If I’m generally our and about, phone, wallet, keys, phone charging cable, a pen, anything else I need can be acquired as I need it.

It’s also functionally ECD is my backpack, mainly because I use it to carry my laptop with me wherever I’m likely to need it, like work, or class, or to carry a bunch of stuff like MtG decks for an MtG event, or clothes if I’m spending a night at a friend’s house.

I live in the US and its very car centric here. It’s rare that I’m ever more than a few minutes away from a source of water or food, I keep an umbrella in my car, it has AC to keep me cool, if it’s chilly out I wear a jacket.

  • Welcome to the paradoxical nature of fascism the greatest and most powerful country on earth is at risk from a secret cabal of highly intelligent, highly organized criminals led by the dementia riddled criminal mastermind Joe Biden crime family who’s actually being being puppeted by AOC and is a mouthpiece for Obama, and who are sending lazy, job stealing, taxpayer benefit robbing Mexicans to bring hard core drugs like marijuana and fentanyl across the wide open red carpeted border so that they can vote for democrats in elections that are also rigged in favor of democrats because that…

So yeah you get the point, fascists don’t make any sense to anyone who stops and thinks for more than a minute. Their logic is non-existent, they parrot whatever talking point they hear on their propaganda network of choice is convenient.

  • The thing with intelligence agencies isn’t about the information they collect or apread but the means and methods of they collect or spread information.

If ABC intelligence agency knows someone is a double agent feeding state secrets to XYZ foreign agency, that double agent can go be unknowingly molded into an asset for ABC by feeding them inaccurate information, or their patterns can be used to uncover other undiscovered agents and gain insights into other potential security holes.

  • With all the people talking about how the books in this one library have been destroyed, when Israel has completely razed numerous universities, hospitals and libraries. Lives and information that has been burned from the face of the earth. This level of damage pales in comparison to the damage caused by Israel in Gaza.

If some spray paint in an American library causes you to clutch pearls but the literal bombing and razing of libraries in Gaza doesn’t get this level of response, you seriously have some inverted priorities.

  • Eh I like to take the George Carlin approach to golf courses they’re large swaths of land that take a lot of chemicals, and water to maintain by cheap labor hidden just far enough away so rich fucks can hit a tiny white ball with a metal stick into a plastic cup.

I’ll agree that overall golf courses aren’t the source of the problems, but they’re the distillation of how our society is structured to how so many resources and exploited labor go into maintaining the wealthy’s way of life.

  • There’s a few Neil DeGrasse Tyson clips I remember seeing around about various scientific and religious interactions.

Like he calls nonsense on the BCE/CE vs BC/AD change because scientists, and really most of scociety, operates on the Gregorian Calendar which was created by the Catholic Church under Pope Gregory XIII and is the most accurate calendar we’ve ever made to account for leap years. Why deny the creators of a fantastic calendar their due respect just because they were religious in a time when everyone was religious?

And in a different he also talked about the Baghdad House of Wisdom and how throughout the Middle Ages of Europe, Baghdad was a center of intellectual thought and culture, until the Fundamentalists got into power and declared manipulating numbers was witchcraft, and ended up being a huge brain drain in Baghdad for centuries.

  • Ugh I hate these arguments about giving bad actors easier access. Bad actors are going to figure out flaws and security holes whether it’s open source or not. Security through obfuscation is a temporary measure and having more eyes on the source means more chances for good actors to find flaws and publicize them for fixes.

  • I really like X.Y.Z

X is for major overhauls. Y is for a new individual feature added or dramatically reworked, Z is for bug fixes, updates and polish.

Like Blender is currently on 3.6. They had a dramatic major program wide overhaul a few years ago. And since then have been adding new features and reworking old ones in major 3.X releases, and occasionally have smaller updates and fixes in between, giving us 3.X.Y updates.
