Nowhere did they say that ADHD is a made-up condition. What I got from the comment was that a lot of the difficulties with ADHD are due to societal expectations and norms rather than inherent to ADHD itself. Which I’m not saying I agree with or disagree with (it’s probably a mixture of both).

I get being upset at people denying ADHD, especially if it’s something you suffer from and have had negative experiences in your life, but that’s just not what is happening here. I was recently diagnosed with BPD by my psychiatrist and that is to my understanding one of the more unpleasant things to deal with, but projecting the frustration of dealing with a tough mental health condition outwards is not really healthy.

In my experience the majority of people on Lemmy and specifically this community are pretty understanding and I think deserve the benefit of the doubt.

I mean I think that might have been true historically but it is not the case today.

The US obviously doesn’t really wage wars domestically anymore sp whatever infrastructure is built for these wars I would imagine presumably occurs in foreign countries. Some evidence for this point would be gestures at the general state of American infrastructure. One of the unifying features across America is complaining about shitty roads that never get fixed. And I seem to remember reading a report a little while ago about the vast majority of bridges in the US being past overdue for maintenance.

And while wars generally do generate money to some degree (increased manufacturing, i.e. ww2 lifting us out of the Depression) modern wars tend to end up with money being extracted from the taxpayer and just concentrated in the hands of the already wealthy.

I’m happy to be corrected though if anybody has any research that points to the contrary.

I’d say, in addition to what the other reply said, that signs have been pointing to them moving in a subscription focused direction. Most notably Xbox game pass, office, and the increasing enshittification of Windows in general with each new version.

Yes 100% this. Mike was decent, Fiona was a bit cringe most of the time, but he was really amazing. He was the comic relief character but also had a decent mix of seriousness too. The mom was decent but he is definitely #1.

In fact I only really know him from Burn Notice and didn’t even realize most people know him from Evil Dead.
