Zenith@lemm.eeto Fuck AI@lemmy.world•Duolingo CEO says AI is a better teacher than humans—but schools will exist ‘because you still need childcare’5·17 hours agoMy kids were in highschool during the first wave of the pandemic with school closures, they did not need childcare they both however struggled a lot with remote learning. My daughter especially needed in person education. Teaching quality isn’t simply instruction it’s also cultural, offering different modes of learning, it’s also social leaning and just general practice on how to be a civil human being, AI can’t prove anything but instruction in one way. To believe this is to fundamentally misunderstand what education is and what its purpose is.

I never wanted to have kids but other people are having kids and I figure why not love the kids already here? There’s plenty of kids to go around there’s no need for me to personally make a kid. If the kids are already here we should do as much as we can to make their lives good but if they’re not already here it should stay that way.

If something can make the company look better on paper it will be done, the quality of the work is not relevant

Solitude, it’s addictive being alone
My spouse works fairly high up at one of the evil tech giants and their team was very excited to be working with some dude who had written a computer language (I don’t remember the details) and someone had written him this very professional document requesting he read it and assess it, his only response to this very carefully prepared document was a “👍🏻” and literally nothing else lol, everyone was low key offended but no one said anything to him because they all basically considered him a celebrity

Or could you guess how high it goes? I would imagine it’s mostly mayoral level positions, being “in bed” can mean almost anything when the threat to your life is sufficient enough, that’s important to remember, it would be the politicians who are more physically isolated higher up I’d be worried about. At the end of the day unless it was the president, or who ever has the power to declare war in Mexico, is on the take it wouldn’t be sufficient to link Mexican politicians and leadership to an invasion, which is what they have been claiming the cartel activity is, a foreign invasion
Zenith@lemm.eeto World News@lemmy.world•Trump Administration Moves to Block the U.S. Travel of Mexican Politicians Who It Says Are Linked to the Drug TradeEnglish6·6 days agoHow else can they justify calling cartels an invasion? They have to manufacture a political entity that puts the government of Mexico in the same bucket as the cartels to be able to make the claim we are at war/there has been a foreign invasion… so basically protection, again, attacking others for being the thing you are has got to be one of the most unevolved mentalities yet it sure seems to work

No, no, I need to pretend all people are the same and want the same things I do, if I have the context of culture 🤢 I might have to consider people have valid perspectives I don’t share!! /s if we do that here
Zenith@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why does it feel like dominant women who are warm, caring, and protective don't exist in online media?151·7 days ago“a big cuddly woman spoiling her partner with affection and wrapping him up safe and snug with her body. She’s totally in control, but she’s devoting herself to her partner’s enjoyment and making him feel completely loved and protected. She’s effectively a protagonist, embodying strength, agency, and ultimate good” sounds like a mommy fetish tbh, replace partner with child and body with arms and it’s just a mom spending quality time with you
It doesn’t matter if it’s an issue “for anyone” it’s an issue to her, the person who matters, the person who owns the legs… being dismissive definitely won’t make her feel better. Don’t bring it up at all, give her compliments that don’t talk about her light skin at all.

You do realize that good is not the enemy of great right? That moving in the right direction is a good thing… it’s this all or nothing mentality that leaves us paralyzed and ineffective
Zenith@lemm.eeto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What are some good open world games/series that would be nice to take a walk thru from start to finish?4·8 days agoAs the game Raft is fun, fairly simple, huge, good for playing with friends or kids with out a ton of experience playing games, it’s got a decent story. Spent last summer beating it with my daughter and we both really liked it
Tim Curry lol
