I used to be more willing to watch that stuff 20 years ago, which was almost half my lifetime ago.

But it’s personal choice.

There were some pretty horrendous stuff on TV, particularly an episode of Law and Order LA where they were dissolving a guy in lye in a bathtub and an episode of Medium where a guy was putting out lit cigarettes on the belly of a dog. I noped right the fuck out of those. These were both years ago at this point but I pretty much refuse to watch cop shows anymore as a result.

One aspect of sex in media is probably the accessibility of pornography. It’s not special anymore to see a butt or a nipple, so it’s not driving people to the theaters. When I was a kid the closest thing that I had to a Playboy was the Lane Bryant catalog, so seeing Cindy Crawford’s side-boob was pretty awesome, even if I had to endure Alec Baldwin’s hairy ass for the privilege.

The social acceptance of things seem to be like a pendulum rather than a continuous movement too. It’s definitely swinging towards the prude at the moment. It will swing back eventually.

All of this is against the Arms Export Control Act. We are literally ignoring the law by continuing to ship these weapons. Congress has turned a blind eye to all of it. We have already seen it repeatedly during the Democrat primary where the progressive anti-genocide incumbents were replaced by Zionist representatives, or at least people willing to look the other way for the big check.

Multiple states have laws against protesting Israel that if you want to do business with the state, you have to support Israel. So much for freedom of speech.

The only solace I have is that the person Kamala Harris has tapped for Secretary of State was a huge proponent of the Iran deal and that we might possibly have some cooler heads if she wins vs this death cult. I can’t say that it will be peace, but at least she won’t be putting up a Trump tower on the West Bank…

Could he cut off lethal aid? Absolutely!

But what would that accomplish?

First, Israel has access to several “emergency” supply caches in the area (that we actively replenish).

Secondly, any aid we cut off, say in March 2024 when it was overly clear what Israel was doing, they would still not be close to emptying their stockpile.

Thirdly, AIPAC would galvanize congress, the media, and then they would be shoveling aid to Israel and overriding Biden’s veto.

Fourthly, the US doesn’t have a monopoly on weapons export. I guarantee that other countries who are antagonist towards the US would step hand over fist to supply Israel with everything they need – or worse – because it weakens the US.

That isn’t hyperbole. It’s geopolitics.

So what’s worse?

A rogue client state that is itching to attack Iran and start wwIII with shout 50% of Congress in a death cult which requires Israel to exist to be destroyed so that sky lord can come and save them.

Or India getting a free field test of their armament?

One of those two options feeds the military industrial complex and the economy by extension. The other makes Pakistan enter the conflict. Now you have a regional war.

None of these things are good. But calling your congressman is a better use of your energy than yelling at idiots on Lemmy.

We watched that when it came out on VHS I think. Definitely not a movie for a pair of 8/9 year olds.

Though the only saving grace is that we were too young to understand what was going on.

I was probably 11 or 12 when we got it on VHS. My sister was 9 or 10. We were huge Swarzenegger fans and were used to him being the good guy. Twins and Kindergarten Cop were rewatched multiple times. T2 was our first R rated movie. We didn’t watch Terminator prior, though my parents did as it had been on TV (broadcast tv, censored) and they were eager to see it too.

Anyway, after it finished, I chased my sister around the house pointing my finger at her which freaked her out and got me yelled at. Fun times

She also played John Connor’s foster Mom in Terminator 2. Blade arm right through his foster Dad and the milk carton!

I saw it when I was in college. Not sure if I knew what breasts were for in second grade. I either feel jealous or sorry for you.
