I don’t think there’s anything wrong with either but I agree, having a height without a weight preference seems a bit hypocritical.

Okay then I will recommend the new Beelink ME mini
https://www.bee-link.com/products/beelink-me-mini-n150
And also the “pocket NAS” from CWWK.net
currently looking at a refurbished optiplex 3060 with an Intel I3-8100T
Those are fine but will be less power efficient than the mobile CPUs.
Do you mean building a multibay NAS myself? I looked into it and it didn’t seem really cheaper
It definitely is. Also most NAS have a very weak CPU. Because a “NAS” really doesn’t need one.
its challenging for creators to generate income from Peertube
Most people don’t start making videos to make money. In the early Tube days there was no money.
PeerTube only has 1 less avenue for monetization than YT, among dozens.

I would recommend DIYing your own NAS/server, if possible. How much storage are you needing? What’s your budget?

I guess thats pretty different

Is this different from Tails?

They don’t care about “capitalist cloud services”, they just care about money. If they can charge you a premium for more advanced features (they can) then they will.

As the name suggests, it helps manage metadata for data.
I don’t mean to be rude but this is like the most generic description possible. What kind of data? What kind of metadata? “Manage” it how?

Sucks for you but, such is the fediverse working as intended. Moderators can’t be expected to have a deep conversation with every moderation decision.
I will agree that Mastodon is not as decentralized as it should be but I’m also not sure how it could be improved. Ideologically there would be a round robin style sign up for approved instances but I’m not sure if that’s technologically feasible.

I didn’t even realize there was such a thing…
When using a very recent AMD discrete GPU that is not yet well supported by recent versions of Linux distributions, AMD recommends the most recent release of Radeon™ Software for Linux®.

So you’re looking for a self-hosted note taking system? Because there are a lot of them. Probably more than any other category. Can you be more specific about the features you’re looking for?

This comment?
I don’t really get the concern
Yes. I sure did. Thats the concern.

I’m not convinced that the group of people who are already skeptical of the veracity of the non-AI content
Okay well that’s not the group I’m talking about. I’m talking about the general public.
I should say if and when CNN starts generating realistic AI videos
The overwhelming majority of disinformation is not being distributed by CNN. It’s being distributed by “influencers”. AKA nobodies who have no qualifications but speak authoritatively and people believe them.

It’s peer-to-peer, there’s no server
The best way for self hosting is docker
🤔

Yeah they have apps on all the platforms.
All of these, plus more unofficial ones: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/installation/

Did you notice that they’re using a local connection? Still requires VPN/reverse proxy to get it outside the home.

telling your friends and loved ones to switch email providers over your crusade
It has nothing to do with email
It’s not a personal crusade. Everyone should be trying to get people away from Google. They are an absolutely fucked corporation who makes a fortune spying on you and everyone you know.

and all of the results were talking about setting up a VPN or a reverse proxy or whatever. Man, I just want to tell my mom “install this app on your tv and log in”,
This is why I use Yunohost. It makes all of that just a “click buttons” affair. Then you can tell your Mom the same thing. Only the domain is yours so Jellyfin can’t hold it over your head.

I feel like I know the answer but what happens if you click “I do not agree”?
Buy a $20 Walmart ONN box and plug it in. Disconnect your TV from internet.
