  • Until we’re consistently electing a super majority of DSA candidates, we’re too far right.

The so-called “blue wave” was little more than a lapping at the shore. It’s been branded as such by the right to make us think we won something, so we’ll relax. Hell, it was one election, it’s not even a trend yet.

We need to fight the perception that Rs support lower taxes and business development for jobs. That’s bullshit, but so many “moderate” Rs hang their hats on that. What the greedy fucks want is lower taxes, and they try to sell it with the promise of jobs. So, our neighbors, who look no farther than their paycheck stub and see the taxes push, scream, and cry to persuade people around them to vote for Rs.

That has never worked out in the long run, as we’re witnessing now. It’s very clear they don’t give a fuck about us as workers or people. They care only about themselves and their profits. They’re clamoring to replace us with machines and computers, and wetting themselves over the false promise of owning AI machines, rather than employing difficult to manage people.

  • It’s certainly abuse of power, as mentioned. This could be addressed on an institute level, but probably won’t. If their Government cares about higher education, as they claim to, they’ll take action. But, again, that probably won’t happen. I suspect there’s also some cultural aspect to this, but that doesn’t mean it should continue, governments often pass laws to mitigate cultural insufficiencies.

Students at larger and more prestigious institutions sometimes have more direct supervision, but “mostly, what we have is power asymmetry”, says Prahmana.

    …

“I am sure there are many professors who treat students unfairly,” says an anonymous student in Semarang, Indonesia.

“But we are forced to accept what our supervisors say because we just want to graduate soon,” says another.
