Phase 5. True despair: you graduate, apply to 500 jobs over 6 months and get zero job offers

We need to convince billionaires to care. They are the ones who hold all the real political power.
I disagree. People who live their entire lives being relentless bombarded by consumerist propaganda and pro-capitalist disinformation are not truly free to vote against it, nor were they given the chance. Al Gore cared more about the environment than Bush, but he was still a capitalist that supported car dependency and the military industrial complex.
I would like to add that having free and fair elections isn’t enough to be a democracy. A democracy, by definition, is simple majority rule in which the government represents the will and interests of the people. Paid propaganda, paid lobbying, SuperPACs, the existence of a donor class, etc all betray the ideals of what democracy represents. Any government that ceases to represent the interests and will of the people ceases to be a democracy, regardless of how fair and free their elections may seem.
I’d love to see the tiny Japanese trucks, but they don’t meet American safety standards
Which is frustrating because they are objectively many times safer overall than a 6000lb lifted pickup
Everything starts to make more sense if you imagine what you might do as a billionaire capitalist: Imagine you are an automotive tycoon and progressives keep trying to make it harder for people to drive and own cars which in turn may reduce the demand for cars which could cost you and buddies billions in the long run! Save lives? You don’t know anything about traffic engineering and your yes men assure you that cars are perfectly safe (and when they aren’t it is clearly the victims fault)… All you know is, your wealth is under attack! So you use the lobbyists, politicians and capitalist propaganda outlets (privately owned news media) to attack the issue, to defend your wealth. In turn, by sheer volume of disinformation and propaganda, you turn the public against their own interests and protect your wealth.
Sadly, that is exactly the state of things. Working class stiffs are incredibly susceptible to propaganda and disinformation (if they weren’t then companies wouldn’t spend billions every year on advertising)

(Especially the 3rd verse, translated to english): “And just because he’s a worker No class can free him but his own The emancipation of the working class Is the task of the worker alonе”
The moment LLM can do your job for you is the moment that you lose your job to boost shareholder value
Jokes on Elon. Conservatives hate electric cars and now Tesla’s core customer base hates Tesla because of Elon
Yes, but it is also a bit scary / dystopian that a $62 billion company would go to such great lengths to have one of their own customers thrown in jail for using the product that he paid for in a way that wasn’t hurting anyone.
Tesla has faced criticism in the past for the design of its manual release levers, which are considered poorly designed and unintuitively placed
Calling it poorly designed is a massive understatement. The manual release is a wire that is hidden behind a hidden panel. A guy made a video showing how to do it and he struggled to do it despite having practiced a few times in advance. The chance of pulling it off while the car was on fire would be very, very low
The fact that Elon is going to help Trump gut all of our federal agencies makes me sick to my stomach. Trump winning the election is like a terrible nightmare that I can’t wake up from.
If only we had the technology to put cars on metal tracks, oh and we could add power lines so that electric cars wouldn’t need batteries. Hmm, next we could link the cars together so that only the first car has to overcome wind resistance
If I were a narcissist like Trump then I would love to be the President: I could set up all my family and friends with 7 figure jobs, I’d buy a hotel and then force the SS to rent out the entire building at 10x the normal rates, I could spend most of my time golfing, I could chat with my buddy Putin on the phone every day, etc.
Are there shitty parts to the job? Sure, but is it better than being a powerless wage slave to a soulless corporation? Absolutely yes.
Starting wars with allied nations (China) just because they have a semi-socialist economy seems fairly fascist to me.
Please don’t. Not that they don’t deserve it, but you might get shot or arrested.
A better option would be to buy those fake tickets and leave it under their wiper so they panic for a second thinking they got a ticket. Or get some rude stickers and slap them on their car.
Either sound great to me. Co-ops are market socialism which is better than capitalism in every way
I sincerely hope that goes well for you. I doubt Trump will let it happen, he has vowed to deport all the foreigners, but I hope things work out for you
I was forced to work a few 24+ hour shifts in healthcare and working on zero sleep fucked me up. It gave me migraines, vomiting, insomnia, manic depression and I felt like I was going to have a heart attack.
It is beyond cruel and inhumane that employers can force people to work without sleep. It is so fucked that not allowing someone to sleep is considered a form of torture by the Geneva convention.
Yes and no. It is sort of rational and our world would be a much better place if more people cared about the safety of others, so I don’t fault you for being angry, but I think it is helpful to keep in mind 1. that anger doesn’t help you or anyone else (unless you are literally fighting off an attacker). 2. Sress and anger actually erodes your own happiness and lifespan.
So stay frosty my friend.
