So capitalism?

So capitalism?

Depression sucks bro and its hard to see the light from the tunnel.
I am seeing wildy successful posts of thirty hand drawn signs and “AI free” art. It could be your new selling point.
While you might not see people being openly anti AI in your community they might not be as brave as you to speak out.
If you need to also seek support, the brain is like any body part that can be hurt and need professional care.
Don’t lose hope man.
PS do you have a link to your music, people here would love it I’m sure.

Counter point. Most westerners would use the music scale we have (can’t recall it) to create music. While ignoring the many many others they were never taught or don’t know about.
In that regards they can’t truly escape the system they are in.
I expect similar for D&D (ignoring its a company) any rules you make up are based on versions of current rules. None would really be a revolutionary idea, and if they were the person coming up with them and players probably wouldn’t like it as they arnt what they are used to under the current system.
Yeah. I knew somone would say that. I feel Mint is its own thing though and main stream enough. I meant more the distros that have a webite, and then other flavours or spins on that distro.
I do want to try Debian at some stage but it just feels about old out of the box.

Its kind of like asking how do I check if my home is secure and private.
First off YOU need to decide what safe and private feels like. Secure from who? Private form who? Most people have locks and blinds. Others might live in areas and feel they need a chain latch or roller shutters.
This is called a threat modle and is designed by YOUR requirements. Most people need a password manager and 2FA. Others report on hostile countries and need systems that are locked down further.
YOU design a setup for YOU by researching tools that meet your threat model.
For the home some people might look into security cameras, alarms or gaurd dogs.
For IT you might need your own email domain, maybe your model means hosting the email service yourself.
What I’m saying is there isn’t really one setup. So there isn’t one tool to test it.
Once you learn about what your trying to achieve you should have a good idea about pros and cons of the setup you’ve chosen, and if it’s secure for your needs.
If your looking to install locks on your house you might get a deadbolt. If looking for a VPN you might want outside of 5Eyes.
Weaknesses can come from anywhere. Maybe your setup is storing your passwords on “Dave’s Legot Password Storage Site For N00bs”. No tool will find that.
What WOULD capture those types of things and more is paying for a pen test to hack into your stuff, but I don’t really think that’s an option for you. A pen test is where a cyber expert breaks into your stuff.
If that sounds like what you ecnetually need, start lole they did. Learn some about privacy and security. There’s some privacy guide websites that explain some basics. Look into hack the box and learn about cyber security in general. Somone mentioned Kali and its hundreds of tools, but if you don’t know these to begin with they’ll be useless to you. I’m sure there are other video training series to do aswell.
Then, in a few years, come back with specifically what is your threat model. What device, app, service or setup are you trying to secure, how is it configured. Etc.
Then you’ll get some more specifics.
Ubuntu has ads in the OS, mint dosnt.
Installed mint on my parents laptops so they didn’t become e-waste when Win11 came out. They have no issues.
Being new(ish) to Linux since that time and I found that the main distortion are better than their sub “flavours”. For me anyway. I didn’t like Mint LMDE or Kubuntu etc.
Also context that the 5 million kronor (around €450,000) was roughly 72% of everything the party took in during 2025, and it’s also the largest private donation made to any Swedish political party that year.
Puts it into perspective.
First link I found as I’m lazy (but not lazy enough to not cite) other Lemmy comments/sites will agree.
5Eyes for anyone reading.

Understood. Investing funds in AI and fossil fuels. Letbl me know if I got anything wrong.

Reading the comments makes me wonder why BIOS passwords were even invented.
Sounds like everyone is saying its a waste of time and to never use it if the biis supports it.

I’m in the same boat now but I also transitioned off slowly. I was saying that it’s not always possible for everyone in every situation.
One that comes to mind is being told to use it for work and posting in your lunch break to see what the options exist before immediately quitting on the spot.
FOSS options do exist for many services, and that’s all OP was looking for. I don’t see the point in telling them to never seek out the unofficial version of a service.

Not a helpful comment.
As somone who has slowly moved away from big tech, one of my steps was to use unofficial clients (open source) and web wrappers. For others it’s impossible to move fully off a platform for reasons like work, school and family. Ulimatums for these don’t work for everyones situation.
Many people use open YT apps or proxies. Versions exist for Twitch. There are ways to access Spotify. Nitter is back (for now). Their used to be some FB wrappers (I think they exist but are pretty bugged at this stage). Why would OP expect any less of WhatsApp.
And to answer OP. The best I’ve heard is use a PC with a burner number and a web wrapper on mobile. It requires some sort of regular login on the PC.

That’s awesome.
A way to import a list from ontanimum would be a nice feature.

Now infecting documentation of open source apps too.

All guillotines are equal. But some are more equal than others.
I had a conversation with a guy who I thoght was on my level. Stand up for racism, stand up for the minority, action things yourself instead of waiting.
Turns out he thinks the Palestinians are racist, the minority was being an ant masker, and his actions are… Well a rsult of those ideas.
Same ideologies different outcomes.
Use this to get annas books on mob.
https://github.com/warreth/OpenlibExtended
And install syncthing.
Install KOReader on Kobo and setup the syncthing plugin.
Now download a book and it will auto sync over.
You could to the sync with calibre or other apps. I just use what I know.
Technically sponsor block dies this. It’s on more projects than just revanced.
GOS = Easy to super easy
Linage / other on Samsung = hard
In the past other roms on devices have caused issues for me (I’m happy to deal with them) and others (who would prefer to just use google).
I understand you want the best for your friend, but if there already immersed the best experience for them is just default samsung.
It would be better IMO to format, debloat, and then install some privacy friendly options.
That way they have some privacy apps to get started.

Exactly. Just like how in the last few years both closed and open source apps/services have more transparency on privacy policys and permersion requirements (and reason). There should be a similar statement for AI use in development and the end product.
I don’t want to be using an app that had a lot of permissions to find out its 100% vibe coded by a turkey. It’s a disaster waiting to happen.
I’m seeing the same as you but can’t help further.
