Are you sure this is usdefaultism, instead of merely stating that something doesn’t happen in America? If he were in Belgium and stated this doesn’t happen in Belgium, would you think he was assuming Belgium is default? Feels like you’re (ironically) assuming something that isn’t actually happening.

1·7 months agoI sincerely hope you’re right. I’m American, so I don’t have that kind of faith in humanity lately. By all means though, spread the word.

2·7 months agoI don’t disagree. However, anyone who thinks it predicts the future? They won’t be swayed by people who say “nuh uh”. People have been saying that forever. Anyone who thinks to prove it isn’t predictive either already know, or are susceptible to confirmation bias. I’m just calling it what it is: a procedurally generated advice column. Take what resonates, leave what doesn’t. If it affects your mental health, take a step back. It’s not that serious.

22·7 months agoTherapy costs money, and isn’t done for fun though. It’s not the same thing. Like, are we trying to tell people who read fortune cookies to go to therapy instead? It’s a dumb interest that some people get way too into. Therapy helps with the obsessive part, which doesn’t need astrology to manifest.

2·7 months agoVery reddit to get downvoted for asking a question. But yeah, I saw what I expected. People using astrology improperly, becoming obsessed, and finding consequences. If it doesn’t happen with astrology, it’ll happen with something else. This is a people problem.

194·7 months agoAstrology used as a predictive engine obviously doesn’t work. Anyone using it that way is using it improperly IMO. It’s more like procedurally generated advice. For example, mine says there’s a conflict between old and new, and to embrace change while drawing on past lessons. Super vague, can apply to anyone. But it resonates and gives me something to focus on. That’s really all there is to it. Trying to “prove” it doesn’t work is like trying to “prove” wrestling is fake. That’s not the point, man.
Ah, the geography of nothing. I wish it would die.
I’m able to predict when Holes, starring Shia Labeauf, is about to air on Disney Channel. If I have a strong desire to watch the movie, odds are it’s about to air. I was able to do this for years.
I no longer watch cable tv. This power is vestigial. Nowadays when I have a strong desire to watch Holes, I just watch Holes.

What’s stopping McDonald’s from just saying that they need to increase prices by significantly more than that to accommodate the increased wages? Y’know, with lies? It happened with groceries, so I can imagine them seeing this as a good excuse to try to squeeze some more profit out.

01·1 year agoThe awful ones are awful. They’re allowed to take power in the current system. We have awful rulers and the awful people who support them. We need only be aware of this phenomenon to mitigate it. Your solution appears to be not accepting possible solutions, which is just inaction. How does inaction stop awful people from destroying the planet?

Had a similar encounter when I was a kid. Went for a walk in my neighborhood one night, got a bit lost, found my way, then got pulled over 30 seconds away from my house for walking suspiciously. Let me off with a warning and watched me enter my home to make sure I wasn’t bullshitting, so at least I didn’t get hauled away for a reprogramming.
