I think ultimately we need to design an economic system that allows less work and less consumption. You want those outsourced jobs to come back but done by robotics. Coming back to stop needing to ship them halfway across the world, wasting energy. But we need to have a clear(er) vision to what we want to transition to. Like a partially planned and circular economy that covers the basic needs (food, living space, education, news, healthcare) for everyone for free. Otherwise there is nothing to believe in.

That’s a very good take too. I just saw this video Why Justice for Ukraine AND Russia Goes Through South Africa which has another interesting take - that admission of guilt and confessing the truth towards the victim is sometimes better for reconciliation than a trial that is about the court prosecuting and the accused defending, denying and finding excuses. But I doubt that either is realistic in the near future.

I think people and journalists should be educated and informed so they can see it for the theater it is. If the people of a democracy can’t see the evil their own countries have been doing or do not have the means to change anything, then those leaders pointing the fingers at others for the same shit becomes nothing but a distraction.

Take out the motor block and tank and replace it with standardized electrical motors and special adapters and just put some lithium battery block in the trunk.

The emission savings from replacing all those internal combustion engines with zero-carbon alternatives will **not **feed in **fast enough **to make the necessary difference in the time we can spare: the next five years. Tackling the climate and air pollution crises requires curbing all motorised transport, particularly private cars, as quickly as possible. Focusing solely on electric vehicles is slowing down the race to zero emissions.

Ah thank god we still have 5 years. Now the climate scientists just need to advise the general public to start shooting all the cars through the motorblock because it has been scientifically proven that is the one way we’ll make it.

I recently thought about what I’m missing, and came up with something rather complicated (sorry, nothing simple haha)

Basically I’m often compiling information in markdown text files. But images are still web hosted. Sometimes I use spreadsheets and wish I could do simple additions in markdown tables. Or I use bookmarks, but know websites will go down and wish I could just “backup” any website in a compact file and organize it without mucking around with files. Zotero does this partly. I also use “SingleFile” to save websites but it would be nice if it was something semi-compatible to web-archive. Or maybe just save a stripped down version of an article like you see in “reader view” on Firefox. And of course usable in both desktop and mobile.

I do think Project Jupyter does something like this and there are also other note taking apps.

Overall the state of computer science in 2025 is still deplorable. The very basics of storing data still don’t have good solutions.

They are drafted, and refusing to serve is not easy, and they are inundated by propaganda. And yeah reparations, land reform, wealth redistribution all would need to happen.

And if you’re taking about the recent settlements (say like up to 20 years ago) and dispossession of Palestinians, yeah I agree. But there is a “statue of limitations”. You can’t unravel history. Humans in general who live somewhere and have build their lives deserve protection - no matter how they got there or what shitty and vile opinions they hold. It’s not a property dispute if you want to apply this to a whole nation.

Personally I don’t see this ending well. There are about a billion climate refugees coming in the next decades and things will get much worse generally. Israel will probably become isolated and eventually loose USA support and use their nuclear weapons. But after than it’s quite possible Israel will indeed end with another holocaust. But I see no reason to hope for or argue in favor of that.

Of course, two wrongs don’t make it right! You can’t hold the people living in an area collectively responsible for the actions of their regime (past or present). They are human beings.

I am angry too and I agree that the regime and a majority of the population of Israel has become fascist along with decades of crimes, terrorism and oppression, and should fall and be “de-nazied” like in Germany. But that is unlikely anytime soon. Best we can do is sanction them to collapse and punish those who support this regime.

The issue is that the fascist assault also has an impact on all of us, by making us angry and wish for simple solutions. Don’t play into their hands by validating their claims about the “radical left”.
