Everything felt like they didn’t last nearly as long as they could’ve. You were shuffled a lot during a school day and you had so much crammed in to do within those 8 hours that you’re there.

I never liked school for the courses and all that. I liked school because of who I hung around and some of the memories I got through them.

We’ve lost some big ones this year alone, hadn’t we? I recall the early half of the year, that we lost some huge names or names that just shut down. Uloz flipped, still around but not what it once was. There was a lot of big names just gone all in this year alone.

But I see all of this as multi-pronged.

Aside from what everyone else has said. I will add that there could be people slipping into pirate ranks as a shill for these corps, gathering all that they can, slipping out to report.

There also could be loud-mouthed pirates, ruining it for everyone because they’re loud-mouths, gotta spread the shit all the way around. That gets the attention of the corps that just hover over and count the days at that point.

So say that piracy is exterminated in a theoretical scenario, subscription prices now cost $20 - $25 per service just for standard. Tickets cost $19 per person. Rentals will cost $7. Copies still sold in retail stores and online hover $20 ~ $30.

Now, piracy is gone, we have all of these increased expenses. Who do they honestly expect are going to still want to be paying that much?

People will see all along that this is just simply an optional luxury to have, they can’t have it, they stop paying and take their money somewhere else.

And does anyone think the executives and MAFIAA will finally admit that they’ve been in the wrong all this time?

I was planning to finish a series on AnimeSuge and AnimeSuge is now gone. I’m not going to fucking subscribe to Crunchyroll because, they don’t have anime classics like Tenchi Universe or Tenchi in Tokyo. AnimeSuge did. They had everything Tenchi in one place whereas you have to subscribe to both Funimation and Cruncyroll to even get a third of the series available.

And watching the original 1997 Berserk series straight through was on AnimeSuge. None of the legal options fucking have it and everyone is selling the series on EBay and Amazon for triple the price.

This is fucking bullshit!

There’s nothing wrong either with pumping the brakes of a subscription, which I’m seeing and hearing people do now including myself. I just need a good reason to subscribe to say like, Netflix, to get me to watch what I want to watch or catch up on then decide to unsubscribe.

I sincerely hope they don’t penalize people in the future for doing this, but I expect at somepoint that they will so mind as well enjoy that while we’re able.

Everyone should sit down and ask themselves - ‘Do I Really Need This?’

I can only speak on my behalf. I have over, roughly estimating, 1,500 games both purchased and pirated. Do I really need a subscription such as GamePass right now when I have so much already? No, I really don’t.

I’ve pirated thousands of songs over the years, do I really need Spotify’s subscription? No, I do not and I’m glad that I don’t.

So on and so forth. I decide what I need or want based on the current lifestyle and quality of life in my current state. I do not need over 40 subscriptions sapping me every month and it’s only gotten easier because I combat FOMO, I evaluate what else is out there that serves as an alternative that isn’t subscription based.

These days when I look at people paying a subscription model for Microsoft Office, I shake my head and have that kind of chuckle that makes you feel sorry over someone doing that. Because really, I still use older versions of Microsoft Office and LibreOffice to handle whatever modern features that there is to handle. Not a lot has really changed to warrant subscribing to such a model.

A lot of subscription models can be pressy to people who aren’t knowledgeable unless they take advantage of what’s out there.

I resonate the same way with Anime fans. I used to have seen many people identify themselves back in the 2000s as ‘Otakus’ and some even wearing the shirts to say so. It got off-putting for a good long while. There are even fans who uncomfortably reveal their favorite characters that all look suggestively underaged or too dolled up which makes associating with them in casual conversation a problem because of the mental gymnastics they’ll go through defending them.

The anime fandom has a poor track record of just keeping these weirdos out which doesn’t make it good to indulge on the hobby.

Everyone’s collections is suddenly worth way more because of the devious amounts of pumping and dumping by heritage auctions and people operating on a pawn broker mindset. That’s who ruined an honest hobby.

I wanted my collection so that I can have things to turn to and play, but have physical copies of. There were very few times I got games so I could flip them, but only if it meant more money to have on the bargaining table to get what I truly wanted. I’ve gotten a copy of Pokemon Stadium 2 sealed in 2010. I tried selling it for $95, but not sure what the final price of it really went for. Might’ve been a tad lower.

I mean, that’s just how you did business if it means getting what you want. These days, everyone is constantly flipping and skyrocketing values to unrealistic levels “for fun” or profit than just caring about what they’ve got at all.

I mean it’s in the word - personal. When you’re making personal collections, you aren’t in it for the money or what ways you can flip what you get for an investment.

Last Podcast on the Left - Three guys that covered true crime, the morbid, the crazy and everything in between while cracking dark humor over it all. I used to listen to this heavily from 2017 through 2021. I believe before I just stopped listening. They lost one of their longtime hosts recently to controversy a while back and I haven’t been interested in picking it back up.

The Prancing Pony Podcast - This is an acquired taste because it appeals to fans of Middle-Earth and everything Tolkien. Two hosts offer insight and depth reading of the legendarium, starting from Silmarillion through Hobbit and up to the Lord of the Rings. I think they’re close to wrapping up Return of the King soon. Very informational podcast to get into if you’re a fan of the lore.

Sequelisers - A group of hosts take bad unnecessary sequels to beloved films and attempt to fix them, while offering insight as to why the sequel in question was a bad idea in the first place.

CUPodcast - Again, another acquired taste because this only has a small following and it involves video games. It’s hosted by Pat Contri who is known as PatTheNESPunk on YouTube along with co-host Ian. They basically cover the gossip and general news rounds with gaming.

Depression has gotten massively common because people tend to self-diagnose themselves. They self-diagnose themselves because therapy costs are high.

I’ve gone through therapy to say that I absolutely do have it. But then again, I knew for certain that I already had it prior to seeing at least two therapists. Because I’ve had a shitty childhood, I’ve gotten bullied an awful lot through childhood, I had unsupporting and unloving parents. A lot of my ambitions and dreams weren’t realized because I didn’t have the necessary tools to go and achieve them. My school career was so embarrassing that I elected not to go to college because I had nothing to show for it.

And while I can say that I’ve had decent friends and some good relationships. I keep finding myself fighting with whether or not anyone actually cares of me and simply just isn’t tolerating me so they can take advantage of my generosity.

So I have plenty to be depressed about.

No. I did my time for the many years I’ve endured when adblockers weren’t really much of a thing. So, that meant that I’ve put up with ads until 2006 which meant AdBlock Plus first debuted.

Ads are typically trash, they’re in your face, they’re invasive, they’re prone to have malware in them and it’s just marketing pollution that adds no value except to figure out ways, mostly in obnoxious fashion, to get you to spend money.

I was a frequent Kbin.social user and I miss it. But also, you have to move on when the end is reached for the foreseeable future. One of the strengths of the Fediverse, is that you can make an account on something like MBin and still interact with Lemmy instances as if you were registered on Lemmy. Anything that makes me use one account and supports cross-platform is a major plus in my book.

Oh and uh maybe some of those running Lemmy, i.e mods, are kind of scummy so I don’t want to be at their mercy if I was just registered to Lemmy.

I’d make it a TV series. If it’s doing well for Fallout, it shouldn’t be hard for Borderlands to be a show. Because with something as big as Borderlands, it’s not a good idea to compact all of that into one entire film. It’s got to be a chain of events in an episodic format.
