Do I think it’s the worst thing that could happen? Not really, but your security through obscurity argument makes no sense in this context and it would probably be better if it wasn’t done and published so every bad actor can use it with minimal effort.

This will be a never ending arms race. There isn’t going to be a permanent obstacle, so all this did was help the bad guys move to the next stage.

You’re acting like this is a gotcha when it’s actually probably the most rigorous study of AI tool productivity change to date.

Rather than writing something from scratch it would make more sense to maintain an existing application stewarded by the university. There are some universities that work this way but even then they don’t have enough projects for everyone to work on

I like arch because:

• it is rolling release and I like having up to date software and not having to deal with distro upgrades breaking things
• it is community run and not beholden to a company
• packages are mostly unmodified from their upstream
• the wiki and forums are the best of any distro

YES. Phoronix articles are good but the comment sections are insane. There are a few very vocal users that would have been banned on any reasonably moderated forum, and they largely chase out the reasonable people.

Also, occasionally there is an article about CoC or something that is obviously going to bring the loonies out of the woodwork. The comment section will get closed, but not until after the giant flamewar has gone on for a bit. Michael has to know that’s going to happen and make the decision not to close it immediately when he makes the post.

Without reading anything but the title - yes. I actively avoid going to restaurants that use single use plates and the like. I also take containers with me and encourage others to do so rather than using single use takeout containers for leftovers. I also am not keen on doing takeout.

Just FYI the example that person gave would absolutely not explain a huge performance difference. I don’t think they understand what they’re looking at.

That is not a good example. That is an immediate function call happening once when the program starts and certainly does not have a large impact like you are suggesting.
