41·18 hours agoThe standard was never really based on anything to begin with. Not scientifically speaking, anyway.

9·1 day ago"Israel’s detention of Palestinians has nothing to do with security, law or justice,” the NGO added.
“It is a system designed to physically and mentally scar a generation of Palestinians in an attempt to suppress any attempt to resist Israel’s Apartheid regime or demand that their fundamental rights are upheld.”
Which is, as everyone well knows, exactly how you create a generation of freedom fighters.

This is historically the case in Japan (birds and fish/seafood not being considered “meat”/animals when it comes to eating them). It started with Buddhism proscribing a meat-free diet, with that being impractical for the vast majority of the population unless some animals were still okay to eat.

5·6 days agoHow is anybody surprised by this? They started this sort of international campaign of spying on, kidnapping, and otherwise cracking down on their own citizens decades ago.
I was first informed of the practice by a Chinese friend over 20 years ago. Of course they still do it, and it will be worse now than ever before with how technology has evolved, and with how further entrenched their authoritarian government has become.

Careful about going upstairs on TV, apparently.
