The picture is from old footage of a nuclear bomb test. The long shadow is cast by the flash of the explosion and this is right before the shockwave hits and levels the house.

Do you add pasta when the water is boiling or do you add pasta when it’s 100°C? Because right now the boilng point of water for my location is 95.23°C. If I were to go skiing and wanted to boil some instant Ramen does it matter that the boiling point is 90.04°C in Leadville, CO? Or do I just put some water on the stove and wait till it boils?
That’s an interesting thought, but I would suggest it’s the simple answer: the skin around your eyes is already fairly thin compared to areas that experience frictional forces more often such as the soles of your feet or palms of your hands, so your eyelid would also be a similar thickness to your face skin.
I don’t think having thicker eyelids would be much of a disadvantage considering it’s not readily visible so predators wouldn’t know who’s vulnerable like they do when hunting the young or injured, and since humans are social creatures any attack on one would alert the others via sound. Furthermore, how often would a threat cast a shadow over your face before it made itself known in other ways? Probably not enough to give an advantage to one-ply eyelid people to pass on thin genes over thick genes in enough of a way to cause human evolution to run that course.
It’s possible, I just don’t see it being likely. Like most traits, I think it’s just random and has negligible impact on survival/reproduction meaning it doesn’t change.
I could be wrong though
Well the Toybox killer for one…
It’s the 10th amendment. All other 9 amendments and many thereafter are in relation to human rights.
And states rights and human rights can actually go hand in hand, as seen by state legislatures that have passed assisted suicide, same-sex marriage, and legal cannabis laws. It has also been used to ensure electors cast their vote for the nominee or candidate who received the most votes from the people.
Unfortunately it’s also been co-opted as a racist, misogynist dog whistle.
That’s literally how every place with a night shift operates.
It’s “groos” which he made up on the spot. https://genius.com/2582537
I mean it makes sense. Do something related to a movie that’s getting a lot of hype and people are bound to watch. A podcast I listen to did 6 2-hour episodes on the Manhatten Project earlier this summer. They always planned on doing it but I’m sure when they learned the movie was coming out is when they decided to start prepping and releasing episodes.
Right but the premise of the movie would no doubt garner interest in related topics and content creators most certainly have made videos/podcast episodes/etc that coincide with the general theme of the film recently.
Fahrenheit: 0=cold, 50=mild, 100=hot
Celsius: 0=moderately cold, 50=dangerously hot, 100=dead
It makes no difference to me if the boiling point of water is 100°C or 212°F, if I see it boiling the pasta goes in.
In a scientific context Celsius and metric in general are superior without a doubt. But to live my life Fahrenheit works just fine.

Gas ovens are not necessarily going to cause asthma. You can mitigate the amount of air pollution that they produce but having a gas oven doesn’t necessarily mean a child will develop asthma or that they will even be the cause. Florida has a very small amount of gas stoves and yet have a median share of asthmatic children. There’s too many other factors that can effect the data link to say for sure that gas ovens are a leading cause.
To add onto what @bumblebrainbee said, the American revolution, the French revolution, the Russian revolution, the Haitian revolution. The American Civil War, Arab Spring, the Irish War of Independence. Violence has long been an unfortunately necessary tool to better the lives of oppressed people.
