Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is your least favourite thing about the fediverse or lemmy?
3·1 day agoNothing about them are “left” or “progressive”. To me, they’re worse than MAGA shitheads.
I’ve been for the legalisation of weed since like 2006 and I still get creeped out by people who are like “well at least weed is legal in North Korea”.
Like bitch please there’s no dank dank enough to compensate for even a miniscule portion of the shit that goes on in NK.
Not to mention the punishment for breaking a law of that level where I live is a fine.

Public Health@mander.xyz•Child poisoning cases across the US rise as nicotine pouches flood stores
1·1 day agoYeah, one could assume so, if there are still countries where it’s easy to import them from but idk. We probably just default back to regular snus since Sweden is so near and we can get snus from cruises that sail between Swe and Fi

2·1 day agoYeah, for the past couple of years there were tons of flavours. Now this year all flavours except like “painful peppermint” and other minty things are the only “flavour” allowed on them.
In Finland. forgot to write that
Dk what the “black market variant” is i was too lazy to read.

Although this seems like a post about daylight savings and iirc we change a bit later this month
I don’t know man, I can’t really think of many drugs I haven’t done in some form or another. I just don’t use stimulants anymore, as I’ve already enough problems being overstimulated.
I drink to make other people more interesting.

Edit Also how do you know we aren’t morwomans instead of mormans?
without the input of adults
All these “thought himself an orange and peeled himself” drug shit are bs propaganda that adults have come up with.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Did you drink alcohol when you were younger than me?
2·1 day agoWell honestly there are quite a few regarding alcohol.
And the worst ones I know are the ones who avoided it like the plague only to then instantly shift to binging, especially because they were of legal age to buy.
I think it is very important to have friends that respect and support the decision not to drink, especially at parties and such.
Doesn’t work in Finland

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Did you drink alcohol when you were younger than me?
43·2 days agoOfc.
And you know it.
You just want people yo assure you you haven’t made the wrong decision by not engaging in those activities pre-18.
Might’ve avoided some fun experiences, but also definitely avoided a few bad ones as well.
I don’t plan on doing so anyway.
So then you already know. So are you just here for “oh yes drugs ruined my life because I smoked weed at 16”- comments? Haven’t got any.

Fuck Cars@lemmy.world•Queens Boulevard, New York City. It’s insane that we allow car dealerships to take over as much land as they want to store carsEnglish
18·2 days agoHoly shit that’s bad. And I thought it was wasteful when some car-stores popped up close-by me in a mid-sized Finnish city, and what they built on was unused fields before. Still I can’t understand how it’s profitable to rent that much, surely people aren’t buying cars that often. But I guess it has to be profitable, since we’re in capitalism.
Just how is a mystery to me.
Also your bike-infra kinda sucks. I’m happy to see it exists, but… for your sake I’d hope it’d be improved. Like maybe set up lights for the bike crossing so you don’t have to rely on people’s good will not to get driven over.

7·2 days agoYeah, because it’s not about what you say, it’s about how you say it. Or in this case, what you don’t say. Mainly that in comparison to alcohol these risks are ridiculously low, and we still deem alcohol to be acceptable in society.

So if this post and the “truth” in it is to be believed, the implication is that the war on drugs is good because it would seek to lower the usage of these implicitly risky substances.
But alcohol is more risky, we tried banning it as well, but had to stop because prohibition creates far more issues than it solves. In the case of alcohol it was so bad it became clear in a matter of a few years that society won’t survive it.
With less risky and less uses substances, the prohibition is still making things worse, but not as apparently, so there’s not as much pressure politically to fix it.

And give them a chance to spread unchallenged?
Never.
